Thanks to COOP Sports for providing me with Reactorz and COOP Sports products to try out! All thoughts and ideas about these Fun Outdoor Activities for Kids are 100% my own!
Being outside is really important for kids. I know a lot of parents worry that their kids aren’t spending enough time outside. Screen time has been playing a big role in decreasing the amount of time kids spend just playing. What if you have some great ideas for fun outdoor activities for kids so they will stay busy all summer long? I think these ideas would make any kid smile!
Fun Outdoor Activities for Kids
Playing outside can be fun all on its own, but you can take it to a whole new level with the right outdoor accessories! We keep a big bucket in the garage that is full of our outdoor toys. These keep my kids entertained for hours.
As an adult I am not a big fan of bugs. Nevertheless, I remember being enamored with them as a kid. It was fun to catch fireflies, watch ants work and find weird little creatures to study. My girls enjoy these activities too. They are even more excited when they have fun bug catching apparatus to use!
Here are some fun ideas for bug catching at your house. Having a little case to put critters in is so fun for kids. They can watch the bugs inside the case and then let them go when they are done. It is fun to have a net to catch butterflies, fireflies and more. A bug vacuum is also perfect for catch and release!!
Night Time Four Square
Four square is one of my daughter’s favorite playground games. It is also easy to play at home. This game can be played during the day or you can change it up and do it in the evening. Playing foursquare in the dark isn’t as hard as you think if you have the right tools! Make your foursquare game pad with WHITE sidewalk chalk in the driveway. The white chalk should show up pretty good at night. Then you can use these cool Reactorz Playground Balls to play. These balls have built-in LED’s that create a flash of light when you throw, bounce or catch them. What kid wouldn’t love to play light up foursquare?
Good Old Fashioned Disc Playing
My husband loves a good game of disc throwing. He is good at it…me, not so much! I do get a lot of exercise when I play though because I usually miss it and have to go running for the disc. I think disc is a great outdoor activity for kids because it really helps with their hand eye coordination.
There is nothing better than improving motor skills while having a great time. Kids don’t even know they are working on motor skills, LOL. We have found that our favorite disc is Medalist 175 G Disc. It sails a long way and does great in the Kansas wind!! If you want to play at night it is also fun to use the Reactorz Light Up Frisbee Disc.
Lacrosse doesn’t have to only be played at private schools! It is really fun to do a simple game of 2 person Lacrosse at home in the backyard. My daughter and her friend will play and play and play this game! The set we use is the Coop Hydro Lacrosse set. It can also be used at the pool to really expand the fun!
Soccer in the Dark
All of my kids have played soccer (except the youngest because we haven’t found a team for toddlers, LOL). It is a sport that my family enjoys. We like to go outside in the evening and kick the ball around just for fun. My girls would always be disappointed when it got dark and we had to stop. Now we can keep playing!! We got a Reactorz Soccer Ball and it works perfect for twilight play. The LED lights flash with every movement and bring a whole new level of fun to the game.
Flashlight Scavenger Hunt
I wrote a whole post about how to have a Flashlight Scavenger Hunt complete with a free scavenger hunt printable. This is such a fun activity and the whole family can participate! it is easy to do this especially if your child has friends over and you want to keep them busy!!
