Playing card storage may not be something you are worrying about. It may be just me….I do have a toddler that is into everything and has been scattering playing cards all over the house recently! I guess that is what made me realize I needed something besides the little lightweight box that the cards come in that she is able to rip up in seconds! So playing card storage is our next Saturday Solution!
As you can see by this picture….these card holders tear apart really easy…this is one of ours that is in “good” condition! Most of our decks I have had to just throw the original package away!!
So during my research I found a playing card storage solution that is easy and cheap! You buy a travel soap box and your cards will fit inside neatly. This is such an easy solution and it will keep your cards from getting all crumpled up by little hands!
Playing Card Storage Solution
I found the soap boxes at Wal-Mart in the travel toiletry section for 97 cents each! Woot, Woot! That is even cheaper than going to Dollar Tree!
Now I will tell you that these only hold regular sized cards, so if you have cards that are a unique size….probably won't fit. This also won't hold specialty card sets like Phase 10 or Skipbo…those sets have a lot more cards in them than a regular deck of cards.
If you are like us…we had about 5 decks that seem to be somewhat intact and several other decks that I am sure are missing some cards! This playing card storage solution is a lot better than my previous solution….a rubber band! 🙂
I can just stick these in my game cabinet and we are ready for our next game night!

This is such a GREAT idea! My boys love to play the card game, War, and after a few uses that cardboard box gets destroyed! I am going to grab some of those soap boxes! Thanks!!

That’s pretty neat. You just gave me an idea what to get to store my children’s flash cards for school. Your rubber band solution sounds like my father-in-law’s way of storing his cards.
Jamie says
Yes, these are a little cuter than the ole rubber band trick!
The Trophy WifeStyle says
Hehehe great tip!!! I have a few deck of cards my 2 yr old destroyed the boxes of…. Need to replace the cardboard with these handy dandy things 🙂

This is such a great idea. As much as I love playing board games and puzzles with my boys, it is so hard to wrangle the mess since they can be a little destructive with boxes. Can’t wait to try out your tips with our UNO.
Jamie says
I agree! Our game cabinet is always a mess after the kids get into it!

Good idea! I bet those little containers would be useful for all kinds of things… (she says, eyeing up the mess of hair ties that wind up scattered all over the house…)
Jamie says
Good idea Sagan…with 3 girls and myself we have TONS of hair ties!

Brilliant! I’d never have thought of this, but it’s so smart!

Mama to 5 BLessings says
With 5 kids playing card boxes get torn easily. We keep ours in plastic cases too, definitely keeps them nice.
Tami Q. says
Those paper card boxes are not toddler friendly. My little guy gets frustrated with them and they end up torn. I’ll have to grab some soap boxes for this!
Heather says
I think these are cute containers. We have some decks lying around. These would keep them nice.

What a great and frugal idea! My daughter loves to “play” with cards. This storage idea would be perfect for her to practice how to take cards out and put back to the storage 😀

Cassie @ Southeast by Midwest says
This is a really great idea! We have gone through way too many decks of playing cards because cards keep getting lost because we don’t have any good storage solutions.
Jamie says
I was the same way! Much better now though!
mommywonders says
OH neat!!! We don’t really play cards around here, but when my kids get older, I will definitely remember this little trick! Makes the cards easy to carry with you for car trips too, doesn’t it?! 🙂
