HOW TO MAKE PEACOCK CUPCAKES
This is a fun dessert to make with kids! These are perfect for a zoo or animal themed party!
STEP ONE: FROST CUPCAKES
Start off by frosting each cupcake with white frosting.
STEP TWO: PREPARE CONES
Now take the ice cream cones and cut the top rim off each cone. Just discard the rims because we won't be using them.
Sit the cones down on a tray with the open portion down and the bottom facing up.
STEP THREE: MELT WHITE CHOCOLATE
Go ahead and melt the white candy melts according to the package directions.
When the chocolate is melted put some in a sandwich bag and snip off the tip of one corner to make a piping bag.
STEP THREE: MAKE THE FACE
Place two dots of white chocolate on the cone and then put the candy eyes on top of the chocolate. This will harden and hold the eyes in place.
Place one dot of chocolate under the eyes where a nose would go. Put an orange sprinkle on top of this dot for the nose.
STEP FOUR: MELT THE REST OF THE CHOCOLATE
Go ahead and melt the green and blue candy melts according to package directions.
Place the melted chocolate into separate plastic bags and snip off one corner to make piping bags.
STEP FIVE: MAKE FEATHERS
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Pipe a feather shape of each color in a fan shape about 3 inches tall. It is important that the colors touch so they will stay together once they harden.
Sprinkle the purple sprinkles on top of the white feather.
The green and blue feathers can have alternating swirls to resemble the colors of a peacock feather.
Make enough feathers for each cupcake to have a set of 3 feathers.
Let these feathers dry completely.
STEP SIX: MAKE HEAD FEATHERS
Now take the white chocolate piping bag and make little “W” shapes. Just squeeze the shapes onto the parchment paper and make them less than 1 inch tall.
Take the green and blue piping bags and put a dot of color on each tip of the “W” shape. Sprinkle some purple sprinkles on too, if desired.
Let these harden completely.
These will be the head feathers on the peacock.
STEP SEVEN: ASSEMBLE
Now take some white chocolate and put a dot of white chocolate on the back side of the cone–opposite the face. Then stick the feather fan to this so that it looks like the feathers are fanning out behind the bird's body.
Place another dot of white chocolate just above the eye's and stick the “W” shape to it for the head feathers.
Place your peacock onto the top of each cupcake and press down a little bit to secure it.
