These Easy Scarecrow Cookies are made with Nutter Butters and are ADORABLE! They are perfect for fall parties or even to serve as a fun kids dessert at Thanksgiving.
WHY ARE SCARECROWS GOOD FOR FALL?
Scarecrows are associated with fall because they used to be a big part of the harvest for farmers. Scarecrows were used in fields to scare crows away from the crops.
Corn is grown during the fall and crows love to eat the corn! Seeing scarecrows in cornfields used to be a common sight. Some people used them to scare deer away from crops too.
These days scarecrows are mainly used for decorations in the US. Most farms are too big for scarecrows to be effective.
Even though scarecrows aren't used in the traditional way they are still an integral part of fall!

HOW TO MAKE EASY SCARECROW COOKIES
I love simple recipes that look like I spent all day to make, LOL. These fall cookies are very easy to make and my kids can even help which they love.
STEP ONE: MELT CHOCOLATE
Take a small microwave-safe bowl and add 2 cups of the white candy melts. In a separate small microwave-safe bowl add 1 cup of the cocoa candy melts.
Microwave the candy melts according to package directions until they are smooth and melted.
While you are melting the chocolate grab a baking sheet and place a sheet of parchment paper on top.
STEP TWO: COAT COOKIE
It is time to coat the Nutter Butter cookies in white chocolate. The easiest way to do this is to put a cookie on top of a fork and dip it in the melted white chocolate. Let the excess chocolate drip off the cookie back into the bowl.
Set the coated cookie down on a sheet of parchment paper and repeat until you coat as many cookies as you want to make.
STEP THREE: ADD NOSE
You want to add the nose to the scarecrow before the candy coating totally sets up. Take a piece of candy corn with the point facing down and place it in the center of the bottom portion of the cookie.
STEP FOUR: MAKE HAT
To make the scarecrows hat you will break some pieces of graham crackers into a small rectangle and a small square.
Put a little bit of melted chocolate on the back of the small square and “glue” it onto the rectangle piece to make the hat. You will put the hat on the scarecrow cookie on the top portion.
STEP FIVE: ADD HAIR
The frosted mini-wheats cereal will be used to make some straw hair for the scarecrow. Break off some of the cereal and put it along each side of the scarecrows face just under the hat.
STEP SIX: FREEZE
Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 10 minutes so the cookies can harden.
STEP SEVEN: ADD A FACE
The last step is to add a face to the scarecrow. Add some of the melted cocoa chocolate to a decorating bag and add a fine tip.Â
Draw a squiggly mouth and eyes to your scarecrow cookies.
Put a line on the hat to give the cookies a finished look!
