WHAT IS PALM SUNDAY?
If you aren't familiar with the term Palm Sunday that is okay. Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter. It is a Christmas “moveable” feast that always occurs the Sunday before Easter so it isn't on a specific date each year.
The feast commemorates Jesus's arrival into Jerusalem and is the beginning of Holy Week.
The name Palm Sunday came from the historical accounts in the Bible of people laying palm branches at the feet of Jesus as he entered Jerusalem.
Many Christian churches celebrate and observe Palm Sunday as an important part of the Easter season.
PALM SUNDAY ACTIVITY IDEAS
You can turn Palm Sunday into a great day of activities and learning. Start off by coloring this Palm Sunday color sheet.
- You can buy palm branches or even make your own.
- A game of pin the tail on the donkey is always fun. It fits right in since Jesus rode a donkey.
- Read a book with younger kids. Humphrey's First Palm Sunday is good!
- Get out your Bible and read the Easter story as a family.
