I found a new favorite side dish that I can eat as much of as I want without feeling guilty!! Roasted green beans are so yummy and I am surprised I had never made them before last month!!
I found this easy recipe at Frugal Living Mom and it turned out fantastic!! The roasted green beans are so good to munch on and so low calorie…it is a win-win!
This will be a really great dish for the summer months if you have a garden and grow green beans. I remember growing green beans YEARS ago and we had them coming out our ears…wish I had thought to roast them that summer!! I will definitely be asking my brother for some from his big garden this year.
Ingredients Needed for Roasted Green Beans
1 pound fresh green beans
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or you could use 1 teaspoon minced garlic
How to Make Roasted Green Beans in the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.
You need to clean your fresh green beans and cut the stems off.
Next you will take a gallon size ziplock bag and put the olive oil and all the seasonings inside and make sure the seasonings mix into the oil nicely.
Now put your green beans in the bag and zip it up. Move it around so that the green beans all get coated in the oil/seasoning mixture.
Take a large baking sheet and cover with foil. I like to use nonstick foil!
Dump your green beans onto the foil covered baking sheet and spread into a single layer.
Bake for about 15-20 minutes and then stir with a spatula.
Bake another 15-20 minutes or until they are browned to your satisfaction. We like our roasted veggies pretty dark!
You can enjoy these alone or can even dip them in some ranch dressing….but that will definitely affect the calorie count, LOL!
