As a mother I don't like to see my children not feeling well. Even worse is when I don't know what is wrong with them because they can't communicate it to me! It is a helpless and frustrating feeling when you aren't sure how to help your child. I decided to create a simple visual tool to help toddlers tell you what is wrong!
Visual charts are used regularly in my job as a school nurse and the same principle will help parents at home! I think this simple visual tool to help toddlers tell you what is wrong will help take some of the guesswork out of parenting kids who aren't feeling well!!
A Simple Visual Tool to Help Toddlers Tell You What is Wrong
When little ones are just starting to develop their language skills it can be really hard to differentiate between some of their new words! For instance my little one loves wearing her big girl panties, but often complains that she has an “edgy”!! 😆 Now I know she really means….wedgie! 😆 The same is true for trying to determine if she has a headache or if she bumped her head on something!! This simple visual tool will help me figure out how to make her feel the best she possibly can!!
You just need to show the pictures to your child and explain each picture. Seeing a visual of what is bothering them may help them express to you what is going on. They can point to the picture that matches how they feel!! This simple “What's Bothering You” visual tool for toddlers is easy to use and you can just laminate it to keep on hand in your medicine cabinet!
It also nice to know how badly they are really feeling. Using a simple sliding “How Do You Feel” visual tool to help toddlers will allow the child to show you how bad they really feel! Just click the image to download this chart!
Help For Tummies
My younger two kids have had lots of complaints about their tummies in recent years and honestly…so have I! My doctor recently suggested that I start taking a probiotic to help my stomach issues. I was in the digestive aisle at Target and was really excited to see that they have the brand new Little Remedies® Probiotic Plus Electrolytes product for little ones over a year old!
I know that having my daughter take this will help ease some of her gut issues because it has over 5 billion active cultures of the probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, which is known to help keep the digestive system in balance and it also supports immune function.* The convenience of a product that provides vital minerals and nutrients to help with hydration*….and as busy as my daughter is…she can always use a little extra hydration is always appreciated.
I don't have any trouble getting my little one to take the Little Remedies Probiotic Plus Electrolytes because the dissolving powder has a great berry taste. It is comforting knowing that this product has no artificial flavors, dyes or parabens in it!
What Are Your Cute Stories?
Do you have any cute stories to share about your child and some of their “word” choices?? I would love to hear your funny stories and have a little chuckle! Have you tried giving your child a probiotic? Don't forget to print off your simple visual tool to help toddler tell you what is wrong!! Be sure to check out all my free printables before you leave!
