Author Jamie

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Corn Syrup
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 loaf of French Bread sliced
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. Combine corn syrup, butter and brown sugar in a small sauce pan and simmer until the sugar has melted.
  2. Pour this mixture over the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 casserole dish.
  3. Place the bread slices over the sugar mixture in the casserole dish. You want one single layer.
  4. In a bowl, beat the eggs, milk, vanilla and salt.
  5. Pour this egg mixture over the bread.
  6. Cover the dish and place in the refrigerator overnight or for around 8 hours.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes uncovered.
  8. Serve while hot or warm or the French Toast will harden in the pan. If it hardens, just reheat!

Recipe Notes

One loaf of French Bread sliced into about 1.5 inch slices is more than one 9 x 13 casserole dish. It made an additional 9 x 9 casserole dish for me. I just made up 1/2 of the recipe so that I could use the whole loaf of bread!
This was GREAT as leftovers the next day. I just microwaved it for around a minute!! Yummy!
