  1. If you prefer to bake homemade sugar cookies go ahead and bake your favorite sugar cookie recipe. The cookies need to be round and sturdy enough to hold the frosting. Allow the cookies to cool before you start putting the frosting on top. If you are like me you can just buy some ready made sugar cookies at the bakery and get right to decorating.

  2. Place the butter into a standing mixer bowl and beat on medium until creamy.

  3. Mix in the powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract until combined and smooth. *If the frosting seems too thin just add in more powdered sugar. Start with 1/4 cup more.

  4. Divide the frosting into two bowls and add red gel food coloring to one bowl and the green gel food coloring to the other bowl.

  5. Mix each bowl of frosting until the colors are as bright as you would like them to be.

  6. Take your piping bag and place it inside a drinking glass and fold the edges over the sides of the glass.

  7. Scoop the red frosting into one SIDE of the piping bag and the green frosting into the OTHER side of the piping bag.

  8. Starting at the center of each cookie pipe the frosting in a circular swirl pattern going toward the outside of the cookie.

  9. Let the cookies set for about an hour so the frosting can harden slightly before eating.
