When you’re sick and tired of the way your home always feels messy, unorganized, and like nothing but clutter monsters live within it, the task of clearing it out feels impossible. You want to have a clear out, and you’re more than willing to actually get the work done, of course.
However, with so much to do, you’re just not sure when you’ll have the time or energy to try and get anything done. But the clutter is still there, still causing trouble, and you’re left feeling more and more insane about it.
We’re here to tell you can make a difference. And you can even make one today – right now in fact – if you really want to. Here’s how.

Breathe, Then Gather Your Materials
Deep breaths are essential when you’re doing a ‘rage clean’! So take a few now, let them out, and then gather the things you’ll need for your cleanup.
Here’s what we recommend:
- Garbage bag (or a whole roll)
- A large container for easy transport
You could even get a dumpster delivered
If it’s early enough in the day, you could very well hire out a dumpster and get same day delivery within a couple of hours.
So, if you’re feeling up to clearing out more than just one room (or part of that room), you won’t even need to take anything away to the dump when you’re done.
Just throw it into the dumpster outside and forget about it.
Choose a Corner to Tackle
It’s the small things that add up. That’s why you need to just pick a corner and get on with it. Don’t worry about the rest of your house for now.
Don’t stop yourself and think it’s not going to even make a dent in the amount of mess you need to sort through.
Just choose a corner to tackle and don’t stop until you’re happy with that one little bit of space.
And if you’re not sure where to start, here are a couple of pointers:

Get rid of the waste
If there’s garbage to throw out, get a bag and just collect it all up. That’s the first step to clearing clutter, and it’s one that’ll make the task ahead feel a lot easier.
Layout the items
Once the waste is gone, sort through the stuff in the corner and see what you’ve actually got.
Once it’s all laid out, you’ll be able to move on to organizing it, moving it, and storing it properly.
Organize what’s there
- Put any books, notepads, and magazines onto a shelf
- Wind up any cables and cords and find a drawer to put them in
- Take any used dishes to the kitchen (and take away the garbage while you’re at it)
- Put any dirty clothes in the laundry hamper, and fold/hang any clean clothes
