Best Ways to Save Money Shopping Online
Rebate Websites are Worth the Time
If you are not signed up with a rebate program….STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING and get signed up NOW! If you do any online shopping you are throwing good money out the window by not using rebate sites! My two favorite sites are Ebates and Mr. Rebates. I have used both of these sites countless times and have gotten money back from them regularly!
I always look at both sites before shopping online. Surprisingly enough there can be a big difference in the rebate percentage that each site is offering….Ebates may have 4% cash back for Kohl's and Mr. Rebates may have 6% cash back for Kohl's. It is worth comparing each time!
It is simple to set up your account and all you have to do is go to the rebate site prior to shopping. You will click on the store you want to shop at and a new box will open up from the rebate site. This is how they track your purchase so they know how much to give you back.
Use a Coupon Code
I rarely ever buy anything online without some kind of coupon code. There are usually coupon codes right there on Ebates and Mr. Rebates so you don't even have to go searching on other sites. I also get codes in the mail and in my email from some companies.
Some stores will allow more than one coupon code…so it never hurts to try!
Use Gift Cards When Possible
One last thing that I try to do when shopping online or in the store is pay with gift cards. If I know that I am going to be making some purchases from Amazon then I will pick up on some gift cards at my local Dillons store. They have a fuel points program and I can rack up a lot of fuel points when buying gift cards. This ends up saving me even more money! I think most areas have a grocery store with a fuel points program!
Comparing Prices Doesn't Have to Take a Lot of Time
I love to comparison shop, but it used to take up a lot of my time. There are now some great options that will save you a ton of time and help you make sure you are getting the best prices! My favorite comparison tool right now is InvisibleHand. Once you install this on your computer it will give you a very discreet notification when you are shopping online. It will alert you to lower prices for the item you are currently looking at! It is a really nice tool and allows you to comparison shop without ever going to another website!
These are the things I do regularly to save money shopping online. These actions have saved me a lot of money over the years. I can also say that shopping online helps me cut down on impulse buys that happen more often in the store! 🙂
