Getting enough exercise when you have young children can be a big challenge. Let's face it…there is more to do than we have time in the day. Our kids take so much time and focus that it is hard to fit in our own health needs. The good news is that there are some really fun ways to exercise with your kids! It won't even feel like a workout if you are creative.

Fun Ways to Exercise With Your Kids
Dance Party
Dancing is a great way to burn calories and it doesn't feel like exercise. My kids LOVE to dance. Even tiny toddlers love to boogie and shake, LOL. Turn on some loud music and have a dance party in your living room.
Family Bike Rides
Family bike rides are a great way to spend quality time together and get some good exercise in too. If your children are young and don't ride independently there are amazing child carriers and bike trailers available. Make family bike rides a weekly occurrence and it will help keep you fit.
Park Time Fitness
Make good use of your time at the park this summer. Parks have so many options when it comes to getting a workout in while your kids play. You can use a horizontal ladder for pullups. A park bench or jungle gym landing works perfectly for push ups. You can use the stairs on the jungle gym to do stairs….just going up and down repeatedly to get your heartrate up. Get creative with the equipment and use your own body weight as resistance.
Yard Work
Yard work isn't everyone's favorite activity, but it is almost always a great way to burn calories. Having your kids help in the yard is a good way to teach them about helping out and you will all get some exercise in too. Raking, mowing, pulling weeds all help you stay fit. You might even want to grow a garden with your kids as a way to get regular exercise all summer long.
Skipping Together
Kids love to skip. Adults rarely skip, but once you do you will realize how much fun skipping really is. It is a freeing activity and it also is great for fitness. You can actually burn over 100 calories with 10 minutes of skipping!
Toddler Resistance
Using your baby or toddler as resistance is a great way to workout. Put your toddler on your back and do squats. You will feel the burn, LOL. Try some pushups with a little one on your back for some extra fun. How about a shoulder press with baby? These ideas will give you some extra resistance and your kids will love to be involved.
Jumping Fun
Jumping on a trampoline is fun and a super good workout. Jump with your kids or you can even play some really fun trampoline games to make the workout better!
Swimming
You may not be able to do traditional laps while you have your kids at the pool, but don't let that stop you from burning those calories. While your little ones play in the baby pool you can do simple leg kicks. Treading water is a great way to stay fit. How about just stepping in and out of the water?
Outdoor Games
There are so many fun outdoor activities for kids that will help you on your fitness journey. Relay races with the kids, playing tag, basketball, soccer….the list goes on and on. Get outside and just PLAY and you will be surprised how tired you are later.
Hula Hoop Contest
I love watching kids hula hoop. I am not the best hula hooper, but I know when I do it that I am working my core! How about doing some hula hoop contests with your kids. Try using your ankle to hula hoop for some great leg action.
