Do you want to surprise your sweetheart with a homemade gift this year? I do!! One thing that I know my husband loves and really ANY spouse would love…is a massage. Am I right or am I right? Who doesn't love a nice relaxing massage? What if you could make that massage even better by using homemade massage lotion bars? Handmade gifts are a wonderful way to show love!!
Ingredients for Homemade Massage Lotion Bars
1 cup of pure cocoa butter
1/2 cup of coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon of almond oil
4-5 drops essential oils–aroma of your choice
How to Make Homemade Massage Lotion Bars
The pure cocoa butter typically comes in a container and it is hard. I just used a knife and cut off pieces to fill up my measuring cup.
Add the cocoa butter, coconut oil and almond oil together into a small pan. Heat on low on the stove top until the ingredients are melted. Keep a close eye on this while it heats up. You don't want the mixture to boil. Once the mixture is melted add a few drops of essential oils. Stir all ingredients together well.
I grabbed some Nature's Truth Essential Oils from the vitamin aisle when I was out doing some shopping at Walgreens. The Peppermint and the Good Nite oils jumped out at me because I knew those would smell amazing in my homemade massage lotion bars! There were lots of different Nature's Truth Essential Oils to choose from too.
I found a cool mold pan that is actually an ice cream sandwich pan, LOL. The shape and texture of the pan is perfect for the homemade massage lotion bars.
I poured my mixture into the mold. It filled 6 of the rectangles. Then I just popped the pan in the refrigerator for about an hour so the bars could solidify.
I had no trouble getting the massage bars out of the pan. I just turned it over and pressed gently on the back of each rectangle and they just popped right out! Remember…if you hold these in your hand for more than a minute they will start to melt because of your body heat.
Keep these in a sealed container in the refrigerator until you are ready to use or gift them!
