What is my job as a mother? It is such a huge responsibility and I can honestly say that over the past 17 years I felt like I should have been fired many, many times!
This quote “My job as a mother” by Ruth Bell Graham really helps me remember that I can only do so much! I want to be able to fix every ouchie, every tear, every sadness….but realistically…I can't!
Keeping this mothering job in focus and remembering that God really will take care of the issues that seem impossible to parents.
My Job as a Mother Could Always Be Harder
There are times I am brought back to reality from my own parenting pity party. I am wallowing around in my pool of pity because I can't do this or that as a mom. I will see a news piece or read an article about a parent whose child has a terminal illness, about a family that is homeless, a child that has been kidnapped, a family fleeing persecution in their home country, babies born with birth defects, etc. I realize that there are some HUGE problems out there that really are impossible for those parents to fix. It makes my pity party pretty pitiful. (I love alliteration…say that five times fast! 🙂 )
Keeping this “My job as a mother” quote handy is helping me stay the course….keep on going when things are tough with my children. It is helping me hand over the reigns of the hard issues to the Lord. Trusting God with our children may be one of the hardest things to do as a parent…at least it is for me.
What are your biggest obstacles as a parent? Do you like this quote by Ruth Bell Graham? Do you have trouble trusting God with your children?
I would love for you to read more about one of my worst weeks ever as a mom and how I managed to hang on!
