You may or may not know that traveling is at the absolute top of my favorite things to do list! I am constantly scouting out our next family adventure. I have been researching Bear Lake Valley and have found a place that is perfect for outdoor family fun! This may be a great place for your next vacation too!

Where is Bear Lake Valley?
Bear Lake Valley is centrally located between Salt Lake City, UT, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park and Jackson, WY. It sits on the Idaho-Utah border in Rich County, Utah. The nearest airport is the Pocatello Regional Airport in Pocatello, Idaho. I think your best option is to drive to Bear Lake Valley because the scenery along the way will be specatular!
Outdoor Family Fun at Bear Lake Valley
If your family loves outdoor adventures than this is the place for you to go! The list of outdoor activities is LONG so be sure to bring all your energy along! Here are some ideas for family fun at Bear Lake Valley:
Cave Exploration is something that almost all kids love to do! Bear Lake Valley has 2 different caves in the area that are just waiting for your family to explore!
Water Sports are always a must do when kids are around. Bear Lake Valley offers rentals for kayaks, stand up paddle boards, jet ski's, water trampolines and more. You can also bring your own boat along for even more fun.
A Day at the Beach may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of this area of the country…but you will be pleasantly surprised that Bear Lake has white sandy beaches with crystal clear water that is perfect for relaxation!
Hiking and Biking is a great way to spend some time at Bear Lake Valley. There are tons of trails and if you don't bring bikes with you…it is no problem because there are bike rentals available! The website gives great details about the trails and some are even paved. The scenic views on these trails will astound you for sure!!
Fishing & Wildlife will also keep you occupied while you are here. The lake is known for it's trout fishing. There is also the Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge on the north shore that offers a wonderful habitat for birds and other wildlife!
Interesting Facts About Bear Lake Valley
Bear Lake is commonly referred to as the Caribbean of the Rockies because the lake water is is an intense, clear, turquoise blue!
The color of the lake changes every day depending on the weather and the cloud coverage! So you could see different water each day of your vacation!
Bear Lake is 22 miles long and 7 miles across…not to mention a depth of 208 feet in some areas! There are also lots of shallow water areas along the shore that make it great for swimming!
Raspberries are locally grown in the Bear Lake Valley area and when you visit you absolutely must have a World Famous Raspberry Shake!
Where to Stay When You Visit Bear Lake Valley
You can always camp while you are in the area. There are campgrounds surrounding the lake that range from tent to full hookup.
There are also lots of hotels, Bed & Breakfasts and vacation rentals in the area for families that do not want to camp.
I think you can see by the pictures that Bear Lake Valley is an area of the country that offers amazing scenery, but also outdoor family fun!
