Whether you play cards or use flash cards for your children, playing cards can be messy. I found a simple and cheap solution for playing card storage.

SIMPLE WAY TO STORE PLAYING CARDS
Playing card storage may not be something you are worrying about, especially if you prefer to play solitaire online. It may be just me, but I do have a toddler who is into everything and has been scattering playing cards all over the house recently! I guess that is what made me realize I needed something besides the little lightweight box that the cards come in that she is able to rip up in seconds!
As you can see by this picture, these card boxes tear apart really easily. This is one of ours that is in “good” condition! With most of our decks I have had to just throw the original package away!!

During my research, I found an easy and cheap playing card storage solution! You buy a travel soap box, and your cards fit neatly inside. This is such an easy solution, and it will keep your cards from getting crumpled up by little hands or lost!
PLAYING CARD STORAGE SOLUTION
I found the soap boxes at Wal-Mart in the travel toiletry section for around a dollar each! Woot, Woot!
Now, I will tell you that these only hold regular-sized cards, so if you have cards that are a unique size, they probably won’t fit. This also won’t hold specialty card sets like Phase 10 or Skipbo, which have a lot more cards in them than a regular deck of cards.
If you are like us…We had about 5 decks that seemed to be somewhat intact and several other decks that I am sure are missing some cards! This playing card storage solution is much better than my previous solution, which was a rubber band!

I can stick these in my game cabinet, and we will be ready for our next game night!

This is such a GREAT idea! My boys love to play the card game, War, and after a few uses that cardboard box gets destroyed! I am going to grab some of those soap boxes! Thanks!!

Thanks Dana!
Nice! I end up putting mine in ziplock bags haha!!
Okay, this is genius! What a cool idea for storing them!
That’s pretty neat. You just gave me an idea what to get to store my children’s flash cards for school. Your rubber band solution sounds like my father-in-law’s way of storing his cards.
Yes, these are a little cuter than the ole rubber band trick!
Hehehe great tip!!! I have a few deck of cards my 2 yr old destroyed the boxes of…. Need to replace the cardboard with these handy dandy things 🙂
This is such a great idea. As much as I love playing board games and puzzles with my boys, it is so hard to wrangle the mess since they can be a little destructive with boxes. Can’t wait to try out your tips with our UNO.
I agree! Our game cabinet is always a mess after the kids get into it!
That’s such a simple, great idea! I need to do this.
Nice! They do look like they were made for cards and not soaps. 🙂
That is a really good idea. Could use this to store a lot of stuff.
Thanks Caroline!
Good idea! I bet those little containers would be useful for all kinds of things… (she says, eyeing up the mess of hair ties that wind up scattered all over the house…)
Good idea Sagan…with 3 girls and myself we have TONS of hair ties!
Brilliant! I’d never have thought of this, but it’s so smart!
Thanks Beth!
With 5 kids playing card boxes get torn easily. We keep ours in plastic cases too, definitely keeps them nice.
Those paper card boxes are not toddler friendly. My little guy gets frustrated with them and they end up torn. I’ll have to grab some soap boxes for this!
I think these are cute containers. We have some decks lying around. These would keep them nice.
Thanks for coming by Heather!
Looks very nice storage, I’ll apply it at home thanks.,
Oh my goodness this is brilliant!! I love this idea and will have to pick some up. They look like they would travel well this way!
Yes, the case is hard so it would be great to throw in a suitcase!
We use the rubber band method too, but these are way cuter!
I did this before haha so cute right? were same bright idea.
Great minds think alike! Thanks for stopping by Angela!
What a cute and creative idea for storing cards. I would have never thought to use a soap box but I’m going to pick some up for our cards now.
This is a creative idea to store cards. I have so many soap box around the house that could be used
Even better being able to use something you already have on hand!
I know a few people who could use a few of these. what a great way to keep things organized.
Thanks Kristen!
What a great and frugal idea! My daughter loves to “play” with cards. This storage idea would be perfect for her to practice how to take cards out and put back to the storage 😀
Thanks for stopping by!
This is a really great idea! We have gone through way too many decks of playing cards because cards keep getting lost because we don’t have any good storage solutions.
I was the same way! Much better now though!
OH neat!!! We don’t really play cards around here, but when my kids get older, I will definitely remember this little trick! Makes the cards easy to carry with you for car trips too, doesn’t it?! 🙂
