WHAT ARE ORANGE SLICE COOKIES?
Orange slice cookies are simply vanilla-flavored cookies made with orange slice candy. The flavors of vanilla and orange go together perfectly.
My recipe for these old-fashioned orange slice cookies creates a SOFT cookie that is packed with orange candies and white chocolate chips for even more YUM.
We always had these around Christmas time when I was a kid, but they are a cookie that can be eaten any time of year!
WHAT KIND OF ORANGE CANDY IS USED?
These retro cookies call for orange slice candy. Sometimes this candy is called fruit slice candy. They are jelly-type candy and usually coated in sugar.
It can come in different flavors and you could definitely try different flavors other than orange if you wanted.
I like to buy the thick orange slice candy and then it is cut into smaller pieces for the cookies. Many people consider orange slice candy to be an old-fashioned type of candy.
You can typically still buy these in the store. Gas stations and convenience stores usually sell these in the area with bags of candy that are $2 each. If you don't see any in your local stores it is easy to buy them online.

HOW TO MAKE SOFT ORANGE SLICE COOKIES
I will admit I don't like making cookies. To me, it is a long process and takes a lot of time putting batches in and out of the oven. BUT…sometimes I get a hankering for a certain cookie and it is worth the trouble! These soft delectable cookies are definitely worth my time in the kitchen.
STEP ONE: COMBINE DRY INGREDIENTS
Start off by combining the flour and baking soda in a small bowl and set aside.
STEP TWO: MIX INGREDIENTS
Now combine the butter (softened), brown sugar, pudding mix, and white sugar in a large mixing bowl. If you forgot to soften your butter, try these tips.
Cream the ingredients together with a mixer.
Add the beaten eggs and vanilla into the creamed mixture and mix.
Slowly add in the flour mixture and continue mixing the dough until it is well combined.
STEP THREE: FOLD IN CANDY
Preheat the oven to 350° F.
Gently fold in the diced orange slice candy pieces and the white chocolate chips into the cookie dough mixture.
STEP FOUR: BAKE
Roll the cookie dough into small balls with about 1 tablespoon of dough. Place balls of dough on a baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Place the cookie sheet into the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 12 minutes or until the tops start to brown slightly.
Remove the cookies from the oven and transfer them to a cooling rack to cool.
I was able to get about 3 dozen cookies out of this recipe.

I have made cookies similar to these but used cut up spice gum drops. Used red and green for Christmas. The only difference seems to be the pudding.
I hadn’t thought of using the spice gum drops, but that would be great for holiday cookies! Thanks so much for stopping by!
