Do you have a cookie that takes you right back to childhood? There are several that come to my mind and one is orange slice cookies! I remember eating these a lot as a child and I loved them. I was looking through old recipes recently and came across the one for orange slice cookies and knew these were perfect to make this holiday season!
Ingredients for Soft Orange Slice Cookies
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup diced orange slice candy
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
How to Make Soft Orange Slice Cookies
I made some minor changes to the original childhood recipe because I like my cookies really soft. I have fallen in love with cookies made with pudding mix because they are just so stinkin' soft! 🙂 White chocolate chips would only make these better so I added those too!
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine the flour and baking soda in a bowl and set aside for now.
Now cream together the butter, brown sugar, pudding mix and white sugar in a large bowl.
Beat the eggs and vanilla into the creamed mixture.
Slowly add the flour mixture to your creamed mixture until well combined.
Gently fold in the orange slice candy and the white chocolate chips.
Roll into small balls and drop onto a cookie sheet.
Bake for 8-12 minutes or until top starts to brown.
This recipe made about 3 dozen cookies for me!
Easy Ways to Give Soft Orange Slice Cookies
Even though I want to eat all of these cookies myself….I am trying to be NICE and give some away!
We have elderly neighbors on both sides of us and I think they would love these cookies.
I am going to box some of these “retro” cookies in the adorable Rubbermaid TakeAlongs I grabbed at Walmart the other day.
They are perfect for sharing treats because they keep food secure and they are SO CUTE for the holidays!

What a unique idea! I’ve never seen cookies like this before but it looks delicious! [client]
I have made cookies similar to these but used cut up spice gum drops. Used red and green for Christmas. The only difference seems to be the pudding.
I hadn’t thought of using the spice gum drops, but that would be great for holiday cookies! Thanks so much for stopping by!
I was never a fan of the orange slice candies…but when my great gram put these in her cookies ,they became my favorite! Wonderful childhood memory Thank you for bringing me back! 🙂
So glad….I am the same…I only eat them in cookies, LOL!
