When I saw this “You Get What You Work For Quote”…I knew it was a great quote for upcoming Graduations!!
I actually have this quote hanging in my office at work. I keep some sayings, etc on my desk to help keep me on track for healthy eating!
I guess this quote is one that brings you down to reality….I can sit around and wish I wore a smaller size of clothing….but it is never going to happen if I don't work for it!
You Get What You Work For Quote is Great for Graduates
I think that our society glamorize's life in a way that kids don't necessarily understand the hard work that is involved in reaching for your dreams!
As we get close to graduation time in May, I wonder if the teenagers leaving high school are ready to work hard? I hope so. I know that it will be a big reality check for a lot of kids who haven't had to do much and then suddenly realize that life isn't as easy as the movie, Aladdin, made it out to be! Wishes don't always come true just because we wish it! (side note…Aladdin does do a good job of showing the down side to wishes :))
As I read this quote it solidifies to me that I need to be teaching this concept to my children more often. As parents we have to work extra hard to counter the messages that society and the media are sending!

I think there is also the great feeling that comes from working hard to reach a goal! I know personally over the years how great it felt when I worked hard….to finish my nursing degree…passing my boards and becoming an RN…. How would it have felt if I just wished I was a nurse and POOF….had a paper in my hand saying I was a nurse! That wouldn't have been nearly at gratifiying…plus it would be really scary for the poor patients! 🙂
It has been so rewarding to watch my husband work toward his goals the past few years. He finally decided what he wanted to be when he grew up…yes he was in his mid-late 30's when this happened! 🙂 Anyway…he went back to school and finished his degree…got a job that required a LOT of hard work…but it is really starting to pay off. He loves his career and none of it would have been possible without all the hard work!
As you read this “You Get What You Work For Quote”….what are some things you have worked hard for? Do you think teens today understand this concept and are ready for the challenge?

I work hard to keeping up the house…before my kids I worked hard on my degree–Got my dream job of being a Nanny and Teacher-now I’m blessed to stay home and blog =D
Isn’t it funny how hard we work to get a teacher and our “dream” job…then later all we want to do is stay home!! I am the same way!!
There’s a lot of entitlement in the younger generation these days, so I hope they’re ready to work. It actually feels GREAT when you work hard and something pays off.
I agree Liz!!
How true is that? I love this quote.
This is a great quote. I always tell my kids they can achieve whatever they work hard for!
This is a great quote, I pinned it.
Wow – isn’t that the truth? In today’s world, it seems that everyone wants things for doing nothing. We are happy with what we have worked so hard for and seem to cherish it more!! 🙂
I agree!
This is a wonderful quote. I agree hard work and dedication pays off.
This is a thought provoking quote. Nothing happens magically without working for it
Thanks Erinn!
Very inspiring quote and made me refresh!! Thanks
Fantastic quote. Work and dedication is key
Love this quote! It’s so true. Hard work pays off in the end.
I think our kids do…we’ve raised them as we were raised and I’ve worked hard at being a wife and mom…I think 😉
This is truly an awesome quote indeed. I have always told my boy that when they work for what and get it, it will be the best feeling because you accomplished something for you. Thanks for sharing.
