10 Ways Busy Moms Can De-Stress Their Lives
Practice Deep Breathing
It may sound cliché, but deep breathing can really rid your body of anxiety and stress. When I stop what I am doing (even if it is just thinking) and force my body to breathe slowly and deeply…I can actually feel some of my tension melting away.
It doesn't take a long time to do deep breathing exercises. This is also a free method of stress relief! There are even phone apps that can help you.
Start Your Day Right
I like to start my day off right by taking Nature Made® Fish Oil 1200 mg Burp-Less. It gives me peace of mind and that reduces my stress level!
I grab my Nature Made® Fish Oil 1200 mg Burp-Less when I am at Walmart. One stop shopping for me! These are sold at Walmart as a single item or Twin Pack (one for home/work, yourself/significant other, or merely “great value”).
I like to buy the Nature Made’s Burp-Less formula Fish Oil because it is specially coated to help prevent a fishy odor and aftertaste. Did you know that Nature Made® fish oil supply only comes from wild caught ocean fish, not farm raised fish. They also have no color added, no artificial flavors, no yeast or starch and they are gluten-free.
Nature Made® supports leading heart health experts who recommend eating 250 – 500 mg of EPA/DHA per day to help support a healthy heart. “Recommend” amount equates to a calculation based on approximately 1,750 – 3,500 mg of omega-3 fatty acids EPA/DHA found in 2 servings of fatty fish per week.

Be Active
It is common knowledge that exercise can help reduce stress hormones. I am glad that it doesn't take a long time either…even a 10 minute walk can really clear my head and improve my mood.
If I am feeling overwhelmed I may grab my walking shoes and head out the door for a brisk walk. If walking isn't for you try yoga, swimming or even a game of tennis!
Connect With Friends
Friendship brings so much to our lives and can really save us from stress. A quick call to a close friend can improve my stress level so fast.
This gives me a person to talk things out with, vent if needed or just have a laugh. I can usually gain some perspective on my situation from my friends too! My main problem is taking the time to connect with my friends on a more regular basis. I am working on scheduling more friend time!
Music Soothes
We know that music soothes babies…why not use it to sooth us too! Playing your favorite songs may help you feel less stress.
Another idea is to make a play-list of calming songs and play it when you are at the end of your rope.
Plants Work
Do you have any plants at your house? If the answer is yes then you are already on the road to less-stress! Houseplants help purify the air, but they are also a known relaxation inducer! Sign me UP!!
There are people in my family who have allergies to a lot of different plants, so we have to keep things simple. Our go-to plants are succulents. They are fun to pot and sit around the house! The bonus is that they are REALLY easy to take care of so it doesn't increase my workload.
Laughter is the Best Medicine
Everyone can use more laughter in their life, right? I LOVE to laugh and even at 42 years old giggling fits still occur! I always feel better after one of these laughing episodes.
If you are having trouble finding something to laugh at…just turn on YouTube! Ask your kids to show you the latest funny video that has gone viral.
Personally I like to just turn on old episodes of Seinfeld for a guaranteed laugh. But hey…that is just me…and it shows my age, LOL!
Turn it Off
Everyone knows that we spend too much time in front of screens. Sometimes these screens induce more stress…we get phone calls and texts that stress us out. Maybe email is causing your blood pressure to go up.
These things are all true for me some days. Taking time each day to turn it all off is a great way busy moms can de-stress their lives. Come on..give it a try! Set a timer and the screen-free time will fly by.
Kiss Someone
Kissing is a cheap way to relieve stress. I don't advocate kissing just anyone, LOL. Just start kissing your spouse or significant other EVERY day and see if you start feeling a little less stressed.
This tip to de-stress your life may also help you reconnect with your spouse! BONUS!!
Get Crafty
Have you heard that doing crafts can help with your stress. I have personally found this to be true. Repetitive motions that are used in many crafts may sooth anxiety!
Finding crafts that require repetitive fine motor skills is a perfect way to de-stress your life. Some ideas are knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, jewelry-making and paper crafting. If you are concerned that you can't find time for crafts…find out how to make time for your hobbies.
