My kids love granola bars and these easy 5 Ingredient Granola Bars were a big hit!  Such a simple recipe to make and these work great as a snack or taken for a school lunch.

5 Ingredient Granola Bars

What is better than a snack recipe that you can customize for your children's likes and dislikes?  That is one thing I love about this recipe!

You are not stuck using chocolate chips if you want to reduce the sugar content.  Nuts, raisins, any dried fruit…all of these items will be great!

I like that this recipe has peanut butter–it adds more protein.

One way to make these 5 ingredient granola bars even more fun is to use holiday chocolate chips!  I make these with Halloween, Christmas, pastel, etc chocolate chips and it makes the kids smile!

How to Make 5 Ingredient Granola Bars

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

Put the oats, honey, peanut butter and brown sugar into a large bowl.

I typically use my KitchenAid mixer to blend these ingredients.  You can definitely mix by hand, but my arm gets sore trying to get the peanut butter and honey all mixed well with the other ingredients.  The one downside to using a mixer is the oats get kind of pulverized.  If you want your oats nice and big…hand mix!

Make sure these ingredients are well blended.

Now you can stir in your fun ingredient–chocolate chips, nuts, dried fruit, etc.

Next you need to spray a 13 x 9 baking pan with nonstick spray.   Press the granola mixture into the pan to form smooth layer.

Bake for 15-18 minutes or until light golden brown.  Cool for 5 minutes before cutting into squares or rectangles.

Store in an airtight container.

So Fast and Easy

It honestly only took me about 5 minutes to get these into the pan, ready to bake!  EASY, PEASY!  I love easy recipes!

If you can't use peanut butter due to a food allergy… it is possible to substitute 1 stick of softened butter instead of peanut butter or use another kind of nut butter.   The nice thing about these 5 ingredient granola bars is that I usually have all these ingredients on hand!

I have to confess…one of these bars with a big glass of milk….really hits the spot!!
