Family Christian provided me with this book to review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
What is the first thing you think of when you hear the name Chuck Colson? “The Colson Way” may change what you think of when you hear that name!
As a young person I associated Chuck Colson with the infamous Watergate scandal and I would assume that millions of American's would say the same thing. I hope that American Christians know a little more of Chuck's story. If the only thing you know about Chuck Colson is Watergate….this book is a MUST READ! You need to know about the radical change that took place in Chuck Colson's life and the great work he did for the kingdom of Christ after his salvation.
Owen Strachan does a wonderful job with “The Colson Way”! This book is intended to show us how to love our neighbors and live out our faith in a hostile world! That really was how Chuck Colson lived his life after finding Jesus…he loved his neighbors and lived his faith in a hostile world!

I loved getting to read more about the history of Chuck Colson's life and about his early years as a Christian. Several years ago I helped with Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree Ministry for the children of prisoners. It was very interesting to find out how Angel Tree began!
Excerpts from “The Colson Way”
When I review a book I like to give you some excerpts that really spoke to me….here is one:
“Whether or not we have presidents calling us into the office for job offers, we can recognize that God has led and is leading every facet of our lives. He will use all of us, including even our sinful pasts, for His glory. Nothing that has happened in our lives needs to be wasted. Even before our conversions, God prepared us for work in His kingdom.”
I LOVE these words by Owen Strachan. He shows us how God used the sin and mistakes of Colson's life for His glory and that God can use MY sin and mistakes for His glory too! That is such a great reminder and came at a time when I really needed it! I love when God speaks to me through Christian authors!
Another excerpt that is along the same line of thought is this one:
“The challenge before us today is to recognize the hand of God in all our lives and to view ourselves not as hindered by our histories but as prepared by providence for whatever the future may hold. This includes our immediate circumstances, but also the sinful past we all have. God does no evil, but he will use even our sinful pasts for His purposes.”
This is such good news!!
One last quote that I think is so important today….
“Not all Christians are called to be political in the sense that they devote their days to campaigns. But all Christians are called to live out their faith and act on their beliefs in public.”
I totally agree, but don't always see this happening with people in my life that profess to know Jesus!! It may not be easy…but it is what we are called to do!

I highly recommend this book…it is well written and very interesting. It gave me a thought of food for thought. I think that Christians can really look at the life of Chuck Colson as someone who lived out his faith!!
