Kids that know more and are exposed to monsters (not real ones of course) at an early age tend to be tougher. It is said that reading monster books will help kids to be ready and learn how to deal with the real world. Kids also think monsters are cool that is why I am positive that they are going to want these coloring pages.
So, before or after enjoying these cute zombie, mummy, werewolf, Frankenstein, and vampire kids, here are some fun book ideas for your children to read:
- This 32 paged picture book, There's a Monster in Your Book, is for ages 1 to 4 years old. Reading this to your little monster will be fun.
- Be Mindful of Monsters: A Book for Helping Children Accept Their Emotions is an educational book for kids 5 and up. This 42 paged book talks about Ezzy's journey toward accepting uncomfortable emotions. This book can help kids understand their feelings more.
- Here is a book by Lonely Planet Kids that the older kids will love to read, Atlas of Monsters and Ghosts. Kids will learn the defining characteristics of each monster and where it can be found. This is a great way to develop their imagination.
FUN MONSTER COSTUME FOR KIDS
Parents sometimes worry when their kids want to wear a scary costume. Most think that this would be bad for kids but it can be beneficial too. Kids love playing pretend. Dressing up as a superhero, a favorite cartoon character, or dressing up as monsters is a blast.
When dressing up, children develop fine motor skills and also social skills. Kids tend to be more confident when they are in costumes they like. Another benefit to dressing up in costumes is that it provides a strong lesson in empathy. They'll be able to learn more when they are acting and imagining what it's like to be a monster or superhero.
