The first thing that you can do is make sure that you don’t change their job description when they have already accepted the job that you offered them. There are so many people who feel as though they are doing the job of multiple employees, and also that they have had responsibilities thrust upon them that were not originally part of the job description. All this does is end up making people feel as though they are being taken advantage of, and that’s simply not fair, nor is it a way to inspire loyalty to you.
Listen To Their Woes
Everyone has problems in life, and your employees are no exception. If you want your employees to feel as though they are valued, you need to be there to provide support. You need to want to be there for them, to offer guidance where you can, and to show compassion when it’s necessary.
Reward Their Efforts
When your employees have been working really hard and you want to reward their efforts then think about ways you can do this. You could hold a team building day where they each get to do fun things for themselves and then come together at the end. Another option could be to hire a mobile coffee truck to pull up outside the offices. This should be free of charge for your employees and you cover the costs. If the weather has been particularly hot and your employees haven’t once complained about this then treat them to an ice cream truck. One free ice cream per employee and they will be singing your praises for days.
Training And Promotions
Finally, there is nothing better to an employee than the chance to climb the career ladder. With training and promotions, what once was an assistant could become the manager of your company. You need hard working individuals who want to progress and work hard to achieve great things. You will know as soon as you meet these people that they were destined for greatness. It can sometimes be better to buy training packages in bulk, if you are trying to save money.
So now you have a bit of a greater understanding of how to make your employees feel valued. It can be tricky knowing how to do this without acting like their best friend or their worst enemy. You need to find a happy medium and only you can do this.
