Instant Pot Spicy Tomato Sauce

If you have been reading my blog for very long you know I like to add some spice to my recipes. The good news is that if you don't like the extra spice…it is easy to leave it out and still end up with a delicious homemade tomato sauce.

Pressure cook the ingredients for 15 minutes and then let them release naturally.

Using a hand blender, puree the sauce until it is a consistency you like! I don't like mine to be chunky…so I blend until smooth.

A Few Tips

Using fire-roasted tomatoes gives this recipe an even better flavor.

If you want to reduce the heat in this recipe just leave out the red pepper flakes or reduce the amount you use. Honestly, though…this isn't too spicy…just very flavorful with a little heat!

This sauce can be stored in a jar with a lid in the refrigerator!  Make a double batch and be ready for 2 meals in a week.  It would be great in this easy 4 Ingredient Ravioli and Meatball Casserole

Weight Watchers Points

I am always shocked by how many points there are in store-bought spaghetti sauce. It is because of the added SUGAR!  This recipe has NO SUGAR!

This makes around 4 cups and is only 1 point per CUP on all 3 myWW plans. So 1 point for the blue, purple and green myWW plans.  If you use less….it is fewer points!!  This can really lower the points in recipes!

On the current Weight Watchers Program (2023), it is 1 point per serving. The serving size is ONE cup!
