HISTORY OF THE NUTCRACKER

Did you know that this was originally a bit of a dark spooky story. The writer was E.T.A. Hoffmann and the story was titled “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.” Hoffmann wrote this a long time ago. This story came out in 1816 to be exact.

The story was about a little girl named Clara whot got a wooden nutcracker doll for Christmas. She found out then that this doll can come to life and will soon get into a battle against a sneaky mouse king and his army. Years after this story came out, a well known composer named Tchaikovsky turned it into an amazing ballet.

This ballet came out in 1892. It was amazing and filled with dancing snowflakes, toy soldiers, and the dreamy Land of Sweets. It took some time for people to appreciate this but today, The Nutcracker has become one of the most loved holiday traditions.
