We took a family vacation to Puerto Vallarta this past summer and had an amazing time. One of the activities we did was the Rhythms of the Night Dinner and Show. This was my favorite part of our trip. Keep reading to find out why Rhythms of the Night is a must see in Puerto Vallarta.

Why Rhythms of the Night is a Must See in Puerto Vallarta
There are a LOT of things to do in Puerto Vallarta (PV). I read so many articles about family activities in PV that my mind was spinning. We only had so much time and so much money…so I wanted to pick activities that would really be worth our time and money.
Rhythms of the Night was WELL worth every minute and every penny we spent on it. I plan to go back every time I visit Puerto Vallarta.
Boat Ride is a Blast
The show is at Las Caletas. Las Caletas is a secluded natural paradise. It has a private beach and tropical rain forests. It is only accessible by boat.
The boat ride over to Las Caletas takes about an hour. The tour company, Vallarta Adventures, has a very organized operation. The staff are very professional and make the boat ride a pleasure.
They want to keep you entertained on the boat ride to and from Las Caletas. The staff put on an amazing show and we laughed our socks off!
Did I mention how beautiful it is to see Puerto Vallarta from the water in the evening? AMAZING!
Setting is Beautiful
I can talk all day long about how beautiful Las Caletas is…but until you see it for yourself you may not really get it. We arrived at Las Caletas as the sun was setting.
There was a mermaid waiting by a waterfall to greet us. The sun was setting over the water….this place is so peaceful you can feel it in your bones.
You are guided to an outdoor amphitheater in the rain forest. This amphitheater is wonderful and extremely high-tech. There isn't a bad seat in the theater!!
While you wait for the show to start there are lots of things to look at and they had different performers doing small acts to keep everyone interested.
The Show is Outstanding
The Rhythms of the Night shows are professionally written and choreographed. I have seen shows in Vegas and on Broadway and this show is every bit as good.
The show does change year to year or possibly even season to season. The one we saw was full of Cirque du Soleil types of performances all wound into a story line that was beautiful and moving.
The costumes were really impressive. People were dressed like many jungle creatures and the realism was awesome. I could have watched the show over and over and would not have seen everything.
The one drawback is that the seating in the amphitheater is not very comfortable. It is long wooden benches. There are no backs on the benches. I understand the need for this type of seating in an outdoor venue that is subject to a lot of rain!
Dinner by Candlelight
After dinner we were led to one of many outdoor restaurants. There was only candlelight in the cove and the flickering candles were breathtaking. I wish I could have gotten some pictures…but it was so dark and I knew they wouldn't turn out.
Dinner was an extensive buffet and we found the food to be delicious. There was a good variety even for picky eaters.
Very Romantic Evening
We took one of our children along to see Rhythms of the Night. Originally we were all five going to go. The problem was that the minimum age is 6 years old and our youngest at the time was 4 years old.
Our oldest daughter learned earlier in the week that she gets sea-sick very easily and she wasn't up for another boat ride. That left me, my husband and our 11-year-old. We had a wonderful time together.
That being said….this is actually a VERY romantic evening. If I could do it again I would just go with my husband!
Can't Wait to Go Back
We loved our time in Puerto Vallarta so much that we can't wait to go back. I will definitely be going to Rhythms of the Night again when we return.
The cost of the tickets was $139 each when we went. This price could change anytime I am sure. It was an expensive night….but I really felt like it was worth it for a whole evening of entertainment and dinner.
Have You Been?
