“What a Girl Needs From Her Mom” is a book written by Cheri Fuller. As the mother of three daughters I found this book to be very insightful!
Cheri has had a lot of experience as a mother and grandmother. She also grew up with 4 sisters! Cheri offers a lot of insight into what girls really do need from a mother!
There are 15 chapters and at the end of each chapter are questions to discuss or journal. These questions would be great to use in a women's Bible study or even some you could discuss with your daughter!
Chapter 1 is entitled “Mothering in a Changing World”. I loved how the author really delved into some of the differences mothers today face in parenting their daughters compared to how we were parented. It is actually a big issue and it really made me look at some areas of my parenting that need improving for today's world!
“What a Girl Needs From Her Mom” really covers all the areas of parenting a daughter….whether your daughter is one year old…or 20 years old!

One area that really spoke to me was Chapter 8, ” A Mom Who Understands Her Daughter's Personality and Encourages Individuality”. Cheri talked about how hard it can be to parent a child that has a very different personality from your own. Many mom's expect that their daughter's will be just like them and then when that doesn't happen it can be a hard transition! I learned a lot about myself from reading this chapter and how I am dealing with three girls who are all very different from me!
I could go on and on about what I learned and gained from this book as a mother! I would highly encourage mother's of daughters to read this!

One thing that really stood out to me was the theme of loving, supporting and encouraging our daughters. Doing these things will have a lifelong impact on these girls we love so much! This is an area I am working on in my own life…being a better encourager, a better listener and making sure my girls know how loved they are!
I decided to create some small encouragement cards to give my older daughters. I will put a card in their lunch box occasionally or leave it on their pillow…maybe hide it in their school backpack. I wanted to share these encouragement cards with you!
You can print these off at home. If you print them on cardstock they will be a little bit sturdier! Cut the cards out and you are ready to encourage! Just click below to get your free printable of these encouragement cards for daughters!
