If you are wondering what to put in a baby’s Easter basket, you are not alone. Some people aren’t even sure if they should create a basket for a baby. I was always a stickler for making sure all my kids had a basket, no matter their age. Now, as a new grandma, I have a grandbaby who needs an Easter basket!
WHAT TO PUT IN A BABY’S EASTER BASKET
There are actually lots of great options when it comes to what to put in a baby’s Easter basket. The first thing that does NOT belong in the basket is candy, LOL.
When it comes to an infant’s Easter basket, focus on needs, wants, and future needs.
WHAT DOES BABY NEED?
Babies change so fast and their needs change too. My grandson has gone from a sleepy cuddler to an infant who wants to hold and chew on toys almost overnight.
Think about what needs baby may have at Easter time and put some items in the basket that meet those needs.
Here are some ideas of upcoming needs a baby may have:
- Teethers
- Tummy Time Mirror
- Tummy Time Water Mat: I bought this exact mat recently and my sweet grandson is already liking it. I know when he is a little bit older he will really love it!
- Bibs
- Baby Food Feeders
- Glass Baby Food Storage Jars
- Baby Spoons
WHAT DOES BABY WANT FOR EASTER?
We know that baby may not actually “want” anything! But we can think of items that baby would enjoy if they had the item. This category is for getting the baby things YOU want them to have! Isn’t that the fun part of filling a basket??
Here are some ideas of things baby may want for Easter:
- Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother Crib Toy: This is such a bright and happy toy and the colors and sounds will soothe baby.
- Smart Steps Grab N’ Spin Rattle and Teether: I love Smart Steps brand. Their toys are so creative and perfect for the different baby stages.
- Smart Steps Galaxy Sensory Ball: Is great for 6-9 month olds. The different textures are fun for baby and they are also good for teething and chewing on. I have this toy at my house for my grandson and he loves it!
- Fisher Price First Blocks Set: This is a classic set that helps with fine motor skills and coordination. Great for babies over 6 months.
- Bath Tub Toys: As baby grows it will be fun to watch them start playing with toys during bath time.
- Some Bunnies: This is the sweetest book and is a great fit for an Easter basket. Most babies love to be read to and this book will be a good read any time of year. I love that it is a layered board book.
BABY’S FUTURE NEEDS
Since we know baby is growing fast, an Easter basket could have an item or two inside that baby won’t need right now. We know in a few months the item will come in very handy!
Let’s look at some ideas of future needs baby may have:
- Swim Suit: I have been putting swimming suits and water gear in my kids Easter baskets for years. This works for baby too! Summer is just around the corner and that means sun and pool time.
- Baby Sunscreen: be sure to get something that is made for babies skin.
- Baby Hats: to protect baby’s face
- Baby Sunglasses: for those bright sunny days.
- Swim Diapers: these are required for public pools
- Swim Floatie: It is always good to have a specialized floatie made for babies only. I recently bought my grandson the Mambobaby Float with Canopy and we can’t wait to try it out in our swim spa when the weather warms up a bit more.
- Larger Clothing: buy an outfit or two that is in the next size category. Baby will be in it before you know it!
- Shoes: Baby probably hasn’t worn many shoes, but the time will come that they will be walking and a pair of shoes will come in handy. Baby shoes fit perfectly in an Easter basket.
