I don't know about your house, but in our house December is a whirlwind of activity and busy-ness! We have more going on during the Christmas season than any other time of the year. Romance and relationships can easily be put on the back burner. This year I am going to be working on keeping the romance alive by doing a fun 12 Days of Romance for my sweetie!
I think that many couples get stuck in a rut really easily, especially when children are in the picture! So much time and effort goes into parenting that we sometimes forget about the marriage or relationship. Christmas time is really hard because we put so much work into making it a magical season for our children. What about trying to put a little extra effort into making it a magical season for your marriage and your spouse?

12 Days of Romance during the Holidays
I decided to do a special 12 days of Romance for my husband this Christmas season! I am going to share my plans and I hope it will inspire you to try adding a little romance into your holiday season, too!
Day 1: Love Letter
I am not typically a mushy, gushy gal, but it is an area I need to be more open to so I am going to start our 12 Days of Romance with a love letter. I want to remind my husband of all the things I love and appreciate about him!
Day 2: Breakfast for a Champion
I will get up a little early and make a yummy breakfast! My husband rarely takes time to eat breakfast in the morning, but even if I have to pack it up and send it with him….he will know I took some extra time for him today!
Day 3: Lunch Date Surprise
My husband loves when I come over and have lunch with him on my days off work, but lately I haven't gotten over there very often! I will make sure he doesn't have a lunch appointment by calling his secretary and then I will show up and surprise him and take him out for lunch!
Day 4: Texting Blitz
I am going to do a texting blitz and send him a mushy, loving text every hour or so during his work day! He will be reminded all day long how much I love him!
Day 5: Candy Gram Message
Who doesn't love candy? We definitely do and my husband has a few favorite sweet treats! I will make a little sweet candy gram note to go along with his treat and leave it in his work bag for him to find when he gets to work!
Day 6: Back Scratching Night
This evening will be my husband’s turn to get his back scratched while we watch a little TV together! Everyone at my house loves having their back scratched…and my husband is usually the one doing all the work!! It will be his turn for a little special attention!
Day 7: IOU Coupon
One thing that my husband enjoys doing is metal detecting. He doesn't have a lot of extra time to do it and I thought it would be fun to borrow my father-in-law's metal detector one day and go out treasure hunting with my husband! This is a way to show him that I want to spend time with him doing something he enjoys! The only problem is that Kansas in December isn't usually very friendly for metal detecting! So I will make up a coupon and we can go when we get a warmer day and the ground isn't frozen solid!
Day 8: Pictures are Worth a Thousand Words
My husband's office has pictures of our family, the kids, etc. I thought it would be fun to give him one of our wedding pictures to sit out! It is a great way to remember how we were when we first started dating and during our engagement and wedding! Traveling down memory lane can be very therapeutic for couples!
Day 9: Favorite Dinner Night
I will make one of my husband’s favorite meals for dinner…including dessert! He will know I am really trying because he loves fried potatoes….and he also knows how much I loathe making them, lol! The grease splatters and burns will be evidence of my affection for him during this 12 Days of Romance!
Day 10: Game Night
We enjoy playing games, but hardly find time to fit it in anymore. I will schedule an evening and invite another couple over and we will have game night! Playing games and cards is one of my husband’s favorite ways to spend an evening!
Day 11: Little Gift to Say “I Love You”
Getting little gifts can be fun and special. I will get my husband a small gift….just a little token to show him that I love him and am thinking about him today!
Day 12: Time Away to Rekindle the Romance
I will end this 12 Days of Romance with some time away for the two of us. We will go do some Christmas shopping, have dinner and then head to a hotel for the night! I have a special treat planned for my sweetie….I picked up some K-Y® TOUCH® at Walmart and am going to surprise him with a “real” massage at the hotel! I think that using K-Y® TOUCH® will make the massage feel better, and he will know I have put extra effort into our special time away! I am sure that a massage will be the perfect start to some special time together growing our intimacy and romance this Christmas season!
I was able to use this $2 off any K-Y® product coupon at Walmart when I bought my K-Y® TOUCH®! Be sure to click the link to get a coupon for yourself! You can find it in the family planning section of your Walmart.

With the way society keeps moving and rushing around this time of the year it is a great reminder to make sure that we take a step back and work and appreciate my husband. I love these tips and the one that I personally struggle is dinner night. This year it has been one of my goals (every month) to go out on date nights but somehow it just doesn’t work out. Again, thank you for the tips.
I agree Joyce! Thanks for commenting!!
what a beautiful 12 days you two are gonna have mind if I borrow and do 7 days as I will be free in those days to gush and fuss over him. Awesome sauce Jamie.
Thanks Julie! 🙂
Okay, now this sounds like fun! I love doing this kind of things, and thanks for the ideas, Jamie!
I love this idea!! Especially love letters. I would love to get one.
It’s so smart to keep it going with a little something every day. I can see how that would build a connection.
How sweet are you, your husband is one lucky fella. I think I may need to try some of these, the letter and date sound good to me. With a toddler sometimes I forget how important my hubby is to me. Thank you for sharing 🙂
I am going to be with man-friend for the next MONTH starting on Saturday. We are typically together a lot but… I am going home with him for the holidays and then Europe…. Helloooo romance 😉
Thanks so much for sharing ideas to keep the romance alive during the busy holidays! #client
