BBQ Cups were introduced to me in high school at a friend's house. I fell in love with these yummy little treats and have been making them ever since! It is a great meal for families with children because kids just think these cups are fun to eat!
When I made them last week my kids were on my case because it had been quite a while since I made them last….they were very clear that they want to eat these more often! 🙂
Another thing I like about these is that they would be great as an appetizer or party snack. They are easy to eat with your fingers and I think they make a great game food!

ARE BBQ CUPS A MAIN DISH?
In general, BBQ cups are regarded more as a snack, side dish, or appetizer than as a full course. Even though they can be substantial, particularly when made with hearty ingredients, they are typically served at a BBQ or other parties with other dishes. If you make the cups bigger and serve them with sides like roasted vegetables, salad, or coleslaw, you could offer them as the main dish.
EASY SUBSTITUTIONS
This recipe is very versatile. With the meat, ground pork, turkey, or chicken can be used instead of beef. They would all still taste incredible! For the cheese, there are tons of different options that can be used in this recipe. A great substitution would also be sugar-free BBQ sauce.

WHICH BISCUITS WORK THE BEST?
You can use any kind of biscuits that you like except the large Grands biscuits. Just because those are just too big for a muffin pan. I like to use the Pillsbury Grands Jr. biscuits for this recipe. Also, you can use your favorite BBQ sauce, we like Sweet Baby Ray's at our house! I don't really like onions, so I use onion powder. But feel free to put the real thing in if you like! You can use any kind of shredded cheese as well.

INGREDIENTS
To make this scrumptious recipe, you are going to need the following ingredients:

HOW TO MAKE BBQ CUPS
Now that you have gathered all of your ingredients, it is time to make this yummy recipe. Follow the instructions below for the best results!
STEP ONE: PREPARE INGREDIENTS
Start off by preheating your oven to 400 degrees F. Grab a pan and your ground beef then cook until they are browned. Drain off any excess grease before mixing it with other ingredients. After that, grab a large mixing bowl to fit the beef. Toss that in along with the BBQ sauce and onion. Mix this until they are fully combined with each other.

STEP TWO: FILL THE PAN
Get a muffin pan to put your biscuits in. Press one biscuit into each muffin tin and make sure they are covering the sides and molding it to the shape of the tin. Once you fill all those holes, scoop the meat mixture into those biscuits.

When you are done with the meat mixture, finish them off with the shredded cheese.

STEP THREE: BAKE
After finishing all the cups, go ahead and throw that in the oven. Allow this to cook for about 12 minutes or so. Wait until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked to perfection.
STEP FOUR: SERVE
Once they are done cooking, cool for a bit, serve and enjoy!

- 2 cans refrigerated biscuit dough
- 1 pound lean ground beef browned
- 3/4 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 teaspoon onion powder or 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
-
Brown your ground beef and drain off any excess grease.
-
Combine your ground beef, BBQ sauce and onion in a bowl.
-
In your muffin pan, press one biscuit into each muffin tin pushing it up on the sides and molding it to the shape of the tin.
-
Fill each biscuit with meat mixture.
-
Top each biscuit with shredded cheese.
-
Bake for about 12 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown.
If you have left over meat mixture, just add a little more to each cup! I was able to fill all 20 biscuits with my meat mixture.
Now I have seen this recipe call for brown sugar, but I don’t care for it because I think it make the meat too sweet. If you like a sweet touch though, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of brown sugar to your meat mixture.
