Do you love to make special crafts at Christmas time? What if you could make something that would really WOW your family? If this was something you could make with craft supplies you already have on hand…even better right? Guess what!!! Lyne fromLynn's Everyday Ideas is here today to share a fabulous Christmas craft! Keep reading to find out how to make a Christmas explosion box.
Don't let the name fool you…an explosion box is nothing bad, LOL! It is basically a special box where the sides open up when you remove the lid. It is cool how the box sides just cascade open when the lid is removed!
These boxes can be decorated for any season/event/holiday/etc. I can see this being decorated and filled with children's photos for grandparents Christmas gifts. Imagine a 3D birthday cake in the center, and decorated for a birthday with gift cards taped on the back of various flaps. This would then be an interactive gift that could be used for photos of the day later. There's so many applications.
Explosion Boxes Can Be Made With Supplies You Have on Hand
One reason I chose to share this project with you is that it can be made with minimal supplies. The one I created in the photos only takes four sheets of cardstock, and all the other items were scraps from my stash. If you had to go out and buy everything it would easily be under ten dollars!
This is the perfect DIY project for when you are scrapbooking on a budget! Plus everyone loves being able to dig into their stash, right??
There are also various options to make it even fancier if you do have a stash of supplies or tools. In the accompanying YouTube video I make the box and show you some other options for style choices if you have a craft stash. Watch the video to see how to make your own Christmas explosion box and surprise someone you love with a cool paper-crafted gift.
What Kind of Box Will You Make?
I hope this gives you an easy and inexpensive homemade gift idea. I would love to hear what homemade gifts you are creating this year! Share a picture too! Let me know how your explosion box turns out!! Be sure to check out this fun and easy Christmas craft for toddlers too!
