Reindeer Poop Cookies

Reindeer Poop Cookies

I love doing special activities with my family during the holidays.  It can be hard to fit extra fun into an already busy month…but these no bake Christmas cookies don't take long so it works great for busy families.

Sometimes we will schedule an evening of cookies and crafts and make handmade ornaments too.

Ingredients Needed for Reindeer Poop Cookies

1 stick of butter

1/2 cup milk

1/3 cup cocoa powder

2 cups sugar

3 cups crispy rice cereal

1/3 cup peanut butter

pinch of salt

1 tsp vanilla extract

How to Make Reindeer Poop Cookies

Put a layer of wax paper on your dining table top or kitchen counter.  This is where the cookies will be cool and set up.  It is nice to have this done so you aren't rushing while the cookies are setting up in the bowl, LOL!

In a saucepan place your butter, milk, cocoa powder and sugar and bring it to a boil.  Boil for about a minute and stir all ingredients together.

Now turn off the heat and stir in your rice cereal, peanut butter, salt and vanilla.  Mix well.

Place spoonfuls of cookie mixture onto the wax paper to cool.  If you want to shape your cookies into more “poop-like” shapes you need to do that now before they totally set up!

You may want to let these sit overnight (if you can wait that long!!).

These set up FAST for me.  I have had some other people say these didn't set up well…but when I made these it was QUICK!

  3. II thought these would be fun to add to my neighbor plates, I made these for neighbor plates, went to the store got all the stuff i needed to make everything on my list get home start baking, get to these cookies, I didnt have regular cocoa powder, instead of going back to the store I thought I would just use dark cocoa powder (which i had), cant be that much different right? WRONG!!!! DO NOT Use Dark Cocoa Powder, they taste amazing, if you can get past the look, yhey really look like a pile of poop!! I had to throw them away and make them again.

    1. Well it is good to know that Dark Cocoa Powder is NOT the way to go!! I have definitely tried some substitutions over the years that didn’t work out!! Merry Christmas

      1. I made these today and they didn’t set up. They taste good but they are sticky and soft. I followed the recipe exactly. What happened.

        1. Hi Carole, I honestly don’t know. Mine were setting up before I could get all the cookies even out of the bowl. I wonder if humidity has anything to do with it? I have heard that humidity can affect cooking. Sorry you had trouble! Merry Christmas.

          1. I live in Florida and no cookies like this set up unless I put them for awhile in the fridge. After I take them out they are fine. I do think it has to do with the humidity.

    1. I am not sure how these ideas would work, but you could try…. Soy Nut Butter or Nutella. Not sure how they will work, but they are similar in consistency to peanut butter and I think that is the most important thing with substitutions. Hope it works….let me know!! 🙂

      1. There is other recipes out there of no names, that not have peanut butter, I’m trying another one today for work it’s butterscotch crunch,. It’s made with butterscotch chips and corn flakes?

  4. Hi Jamie,

I enjoy occasional sweets but not super-sweet confections. The first thing I usually do with a cookie recipe is reduce the white sugar. If I try that with the Reindeer Poop cookies (I would remove at least 1/2 cup), do you know if it will change the cookies’ ability to set up—too runny instead of sticky? If another reader has tried this, please reply. Thanks.
