There is an easy way to inspire girls to achieve their dreams and it doesn't take a lot of effort from parents. Empowering girls to reach for their true goals is a very important task for every family should be working on.

HOW TO INSPIRE GIRLS TO DREAM BIG
Gender equality has come a long way, but there is still work to be done in this area. As a mother to three girls I am very aware of some of the struggles they may face in their future simply because they are women.
I want each of my girls to embrace the concept that they already have what it takes to reach for their dreams. There is no dream too big or career path that is shut to them because of their gender.
I know that this topic is something that has to be discussed at home. Talking about their hopes and dreams is the perfect place to start when you want to inspire girls to dream big.
FINDING INSPIRATION
Childhood is the time for kids to explore and learn about their likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses.
I love watching my children try new things. There are activities they may love and some they quickly realize are not going to stick.
My youngest daughter has tried several new adventures this year. She was in her first ballet program as a mouse in The Nutcracker. One the opposite side of the fence was a month where she was introduced to soccer!
She is finding inspiration through trial and error and over time it will lead her to some passions!
As a parent, I know that I can't introduce my child to every single activity, career path or idea that is out there. One thing I can do is share some inspiring examples from real life with my kids!
INSPIRING EXAMPLES FROM REAL LIFE
Perhaps the easiest way to inspire girls is by showing them real-life examples of women who followed their dreams. I try to point out strong women in news stories and from history when opportunities present themselves. Luckily there is a way to weave these stories into our daily lives.
I was thrilled to learn about the books, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls. These books chronicle the lives of women from around the world who have done extraordinary things during their lives.
We have been reading Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls Volume 2 and loving it!
These books are illustrated by female artists. Each story in the book focuses on a woman who has done incredible things and is a true rebel girl!
Did I mention that this book is hard back and very high quality? It will be around for my granddaughters some day too. I also love the built-in ribbon bookmark.
POSITIVE BEDTIME STORIES
Reading books at bedtime is a common family activity. Structured bedtime routines are important for kids.
Bedtime rituals can become a drag for parents and we may have to work to keep it a positive routine. Reading the Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls keeps bedtime infused with positive messages and is something kids and parents can look forward to!
As a parent, I love reading bedtime stories that inspire my girls and guess what….they inspire me too! 🙂 I have been amazed at how much my thirteen year old daughter has enjoyed these Rebel Girls stories and she has taken over a lot of the reading for me!
What is better than bedtime stories with a purpose? I love knowing my girls will fall asleep feeling empowered to reach for their dreams like other girls have done before them.
OUR FAVORITE REBEL GIRLS
There are too many rebel girls in these books to talk about them all. I do want to share a few of our favorite stories.
My thirteen-year-old daughter loved the story about Billie Jean King. My daughter plays tennis and really connected with this story.
Corrie Ten Boom is another story that we all loved. My daughter had been studying WWII in social studies and found Corrie fascinating.
Both of my girls have taken gymnastics classes for years and couldn't believe what Nadia Comaneci went through to pursue her dreams and freedom.
I loved the variety of stories and know that every little girl can find a story to inspire her!
