HOW TO MAKE HOMADE SUN-DRIED TOMATOES IN OLIVE OIL

Now that you have gathered all of your ingredients, it is time to make this yummy sun-dried tomato oil recipe. Follow the instructions below for the best results!

STEP ONE: PREPARE INGREDIENTS

Before you start with everything else, preheat your oven to 200ºF. Grab your tomatoes, wash and begin slicing. You are going to cut them in half.

Once you are done doing that, transfer it all to large baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Add the garlic cloves, thyme, sprinkle some salt, and drizzle extra virgin olive oil before throwing it in the oven.

STEP TWO: BAKE TOMATOES

When that is all ready, place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 2 to 6 hours with the door held open. This is an excellent sun-drying method if you don't usually get sun in your area. It is also a faster way to get dehydrated tomatoes.

Check the tomatoes after 2 hours to see if they are good for you. Bake a little longer if you want it dryer.

STEP THREE: STORE

Get an air-tight container to store your recipe. Add crushed peppers, a sprig of thyme, and the oven-dried tomatoes. Fill and submerge with olive oil. Let it cool until it is room temperature and tightly cover.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound Cherry or Grape Tomatoes
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp Crushed Peppers
  • Sprigs of Thyme
  • 1 cup Olive Oil
  • 4 to 5 cloves Garlic
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 200ºF
  2. Cut the tomatoes in half and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper with the garlic salt, and thyme. Drizzle 1 tsp oil.
  3. Place the baking sheet in the oven and leave it for 2-6 hours with the door held open.
  4. Check the cherry tomatoes after 2 hours.
  5. Put in a steriliser jar with crushed red peppers, and a sprig of thyme and pour over olive oil until the tomatoes are completely submerged. Close the lid tightly.
