WHAT KIND OF POTATOES WORK BEST FOR LOADED BAKED POTATOES

You would prefer the right kind for loaded baked potatoes which can withstand baking and sustain the weight of all those tasty toppings without being too soft. Russet potatoes are frequently a great option because of their substantial amount of starch, which when baked, produces a fluffy inside.

Their thick skin also bakes or fries well, giving you a solid foundation for all of your toppings. But if you'd rather try something different and have a creamier texture, go for red potatoes or Yukon Gold.

HOW TO MAKE BAKED POTATOES IN THE AIR FRYER

Now that you have gathered all of your ingredients, it is time to make this yummy recipe. Follow the instructions below for the best results!

STEP ONE: PREPARE POTATOES

Before anything else go ahead and preheat your air fryer to 375°F for about 10 minutes. While that is running, grab your large potatoes. Make sure you wash them and then dry. Best way to do this perfect side dish is to poke holes on it. This will surely cook the insides. Once that is done rub a generous amount of oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on the potatoes.

STEP TWO: COOK IN THE AIR FRYER

Place potatoes in the air fryer basket. If you are using smaller potatoes, be sure to lay them in a single layer. This is the best method to get crispy potato skins. Set the cooking time on the air fryer to 35 to 40 minutes or until they are fork tender. Time will depend on the size of the potato – not so big ones may take less time to cook if ever.

STEP THREE: MIX THE POTATO FILLING

When the air fryer baked potatoes are ready, take them out of the basket. Slice the top of the potato and scoop out the fluffy insides but not all. Leave a thin layer, about half an inch of thick shell.

Transfer to a bowl to mix with the different toppings. Add in your sour cream, lots of cheese (could be cheddar cheese or tex mex. Whichever you have), corn, and chiles for that extra kick.

STEP FOUR: USE MIXTURE

Put back the filling you made into the shell that was set aside earlier. Add butter then return them in the air fryer to cook for another 2 minutes. This will melt the cheese and get those loaded potato skins golden brown.
