DO YOU HAVE TO USE PARCHMENT PAPER FOR COOKIES IN THE AIR FRYER?
Although it's not necessary, parchment paper can be useful when baking cookies in an air fryer. The nonstick surface of parchment paper makes for simpler clean up and helps keep cookies from sticking to the air fryer basket. There are a few substitutes to take into account if parchment paper is not your preferred option:
GREASING THE AIR FRYER BASKET
Cookies won't stick to the air fryer basket if you lightly grease it with cooking spray or a little oil. However, use caution when deciding how much oil to use, as too much oil can lead to excessive spreading of the cookies.
USING SILICONE BAKING MATS
A different approach for a nonstick choice is using silicone baking mats. These mats offer a nonstick layer that is comparable to parchment paper and can be put directly on the air fryer basket. Plus, they can be washed and reused after.
USING BAKING PANS
There are air fryer that have baking pans that come with the appliance. That can also be an option if yours has one. Or if you have a pan that can fit your air fryer basket too.
DIRECT PLACEMENT ON THE BASKET
The nonstick lining on some air fryer baskets enables you to put cookies right on the basket. Even so, keep in mind that without parchment paper or a nonstick surface, there is a greater likelihood that the cookies will stick and that cleaning may be more difficult.
WHAT TEMPERATURE DO YOU COOK AIR FRYER COOKIES?
Air fryer cookies should generally be cooked at a temperature of 350°F (175°C). A proper balance between browning the cookies and ensuring even cooking is achieved at this temperature. It's important to remember, though, that actual temperatures can vary slightly based on the particular recipe and air fryer model.
It's a good idea to adhere to the temperature recommendations in the recipe you're using when cooking cookies in an air fryer. In the absence of an air fryer temperature guide in the recipe, you can begin with 350°F and make modifications as necessary based on the size, thickness, and preferred crispness of the cookie.
Remember that cookies bake more quickly in an air fryer than they do in a conventional oven. So pay close attention to them and adjust the cooking time as required. It is possible to tell when cookies are done by gently pressing the center of one to make sure it is set.
