This Easy Hot Cocoa Mix has really challenged my goal the past 5 months of not drinking my calories…..it is just so good on a cold day! This time of year when it is frigid outside a mug of hot cocoa sounds so good and really hits the spot!
Keep Easy Hot Cocoa Mix on Hand all Winter
I got this recipe way back in high school when I was in home economics class. This makes a huge batch of hot chocolate mix and the best part is that you can add as MUCH as you want to your mug! That is the problem I have always had with the individual packets of hot chocolate mix from the store…one packet doesn't make it rich and creamy enough for me!
I got this adorable jar to put my easy hot cocoa mix in at TJ Maxx for only $5!!! Now I can just keep the jar out on the bar during the winter and the kids can load up whenever they want to! Wal-Mart has a similar jar with the adorable chalkboard label that is also really cute!
I personally always make my hot cocoa with milk, but you can use water if you want to. I think the milk makes it even creamier…but also adds calories. Yes…the hard choices in life, LOL! 😆
I like to put good old marshmallows in my hot chocolate. If I happen to have whipped cream I will use that…I may even add in some milk chocolate chips to make it even more chocolately! I love the flavored marshmallows that are out around the holidays…peppermint, french vanilla, etc. Those are YUMMY in the hot chocolate!
Here is a picture of one of my girls and her cousin enjoying a mug of hot cocoa after being outside in the cold! 🙂
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 6 cups powdered milk
- 1 cup cocoa
- 1 cup Coffee-Mate
Mix all ingredients together.
Use about 1/4 cup mixture to 6 ounces of hot water or milk. You can add more mixture for your taste preferences.
This recipe makes about 10 cups worth of hot cocoa mix. Store in an airtight container. If you don't have a container big enough you can cut the recipe in half.
