We bought a wonderful wooden playhouse at a local auction. My girls were over the moon for this adorable playhouse. There are some things that need work though so I am in the middle of big playhouse makeover and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Playhouse Makeover
There is a company that builds sheds and playhouses about 2 hours from our home. I have always LOVED their playhouses, but they cost a pretty penny.
When we saw there was a Sturdi-Bilt Windsor Playhouse up for auction we knew we were going to be bidding. We had the winning bid and after a little work…we had the playhouse moved to our backyard!
Playhouse Details
This playhouse is 10'x14'x9.5′ and that equals a really nice sized playhouse. The ceiling is peaked and even my 6 foot tall husband can stand up inside!
I loved that the siding has a 50 year warranty on it and the roof has a 25 year warranty. Did I mention the windows open and close, there is an adult size back door and a loft??
There is a quaint porch, shutters and even window boxes. It really is every little girls dream.
One reason we really wanted to buy this particular playhouse is that the previous owners had done a lot of work that would have cost us a LOT more money on top of the cost of the playhouse.
The inside had been sheet rocked and full electricity had been run to the playhouse. There were lights, plugins and even a small window air conditioner came with it!
These are upgrades that make this playhouse usable year round!
Playhouse Problems
As much as I love this playhouse it does have some issues that we needed to address.
The sheet rock inside had been very “loved” in places. It looked like one area had been used as a dart board…hundreds if not thousands of tiny holes.
Another wall had a big hole in the sheet rock. Let's just say there were many areas that needed to be patched, mudded and sanded down. There are some areas that were just not done well at all and looked horrible.
There were foam interlocking pieces down as flooring. These were filthy and needed to go! That left just the bare wood floor exposed.
The porch had a floor board that wasn't in the best condition.
Some of the window boxes had boards that were rotting.
The outside was in desperate need of a new paint job…as was the inside!!
Go Big or Go Home
I realize that this playhouse was GREAT even if we did NO work to it at all. My girls are so fortunate to have this playhouse at all….but the DIY girl in me figured that if we spent the money to buy the playhouse…we may as well fix it up as best we can so it is perfect for our little princesses!
I mean why not just go big or go home, right? Ask me later if I still believe this once I am knee-deep in the playhouse makeover!!
