HOW TO USE A FREE SVG FILE
Free SVG files are the BEST if you love using die-cutting machines like the Cricut or Silhouette. There are tons of awesome SVG's for sale and YES I do purchase SVG's regularly…but sometimes I find just what I want for free!
My 4th of July banner project has a FREE SVG file so you don't have to take the time to hunt down a free or paid SVG file.
If you are new to using free SVG files check out this easy tutorial on how to download and use SVG files. She demonstrates how the process works on a vinyl project she is doing, but the process is the same for cutting out cardstock.

WHERE CAN I HANG A BANNER
I am hooked on banners and usually have one hanging on my mantle all the time. If you don't have a mantle there are other places you can hang banners.
A banner can be hung on any wall. They can be attached with a straight pin or command hooks.
Decks are popular spots to hang seasonal banners.
Doorways can be used for smaller banners unless you have a wide double doorway leading into a room.
I have even seen people hang banners on fences! The only limit is your imagination.

HOW TO MAKE A 4TH OF JULY BANNER
Making this banner shouldn't take to much time. It can be reused year after year if you store it carefully.
STEP ONE: CUT FILES
The first step is to download the cut files for this project.
Click this link to download the files: Crackle Pop Banner Cut Files
Once you download the files you can upload them into your cutting machines program.
Cricut machines use Cricut Design Space and Silhouette uses Silhouette Studio.
STEP TWO: CUT SHAPES
Once you have the files loaded into the software it is time to cut the letters and shapes out.
You can cut them out according to the sample, using the same color plan or you can use whatever colors of cardstock you wish!
If the banner you purchased doesn't have holes in it for the twine you can punch those out with a regular-sized hole punch. One in each top corner.
STEP THREE: GLUE CARDSTOCK
Once you have all the pieces cut out it is time to glue them onto the banner.
This banner project uses a fishtail canvas banner. I love the look of this kind of banner!
It is harder to get the regular adhesive to stick to and that is one reason I am using hot glue for this.
Hot glue the letters to the blank canvas banners, but don't mash them down really hard. If you press lightly on the letters it will give a slightly raised 3D effect that looks awesome.
STEP FOUR: HANG BANNER
Use the twine to hang your banner and sit back and smile at your creativity!
