Weight Watchers Chocolate Cupcakes are perfect for when you crave cake. I love cake and honestly don't care about the frosting! This is one of those sweet Weight Watchers recipes that make you forget you are on WW!

Weight Watchers Chocolate Cupcakes

Weight Watchers Chocolate Cupcakes

What is better than a recipe that only calls for three ingredients?  Practically nothing, right?  Except maybe a recipe with only two ingredients like my 2 Ingredient Lemon Bars!  I love low-ingredient recipes because they are saving me time and money.

I also love that these cupcakes aren't too dense.  Some recipes that are lower calories end up being very, very dense and don't remind me of real cake.

These cupcakes don't look exactly like regular, full-fat cupcakes, BUT they taste the same.  They are moist and springy and not super dense!  Score!!!

How to Make Weight Watchers Chocolate Cupcakes

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Put the dry cake mix into a mixing bowl.  Don't bother looking at the directions on the package because you won't be following them unless you want a cupcake that is super HIGH in points!
  • Add a can of pumpkin and the water.  Combine these ingredients and mix well. My KitchenAid mixed this up in no time!
  • Spoon the mixture into a regular-sized cupcake pan that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray or has cupcake liners. You can also use an amazing silicone cupcake baking pan for good results!
  • You want to make 24 cupcakes, which the package says it should make.  I spooned enough mixture into the cupcake holes to fill it not quite halfway.  That allowed me to make 24 cupcakes.  If you want to make less, you will need to adjust the points.
  • Bake in the oven for 14-17 minutes or until done in the center.  My oven took about 16 minutes.
  • I sprinkled a tiny bit of powdered sugar on top with my little kitchen sifter.  I doubt it is even enough points to worry about.  This is optional!  Now if you add some frosting that will add more points!!
  • One option would be to add fat-free cool whip to the top if you want it to feel frosted.

  1. I pinned these. I crave sweets all the time after i eat, usually. I WILL be giving these a try, oh they look so good! I also pinned your lemon bar recipe. I am a sucker for yummy treats that are easy to make.

      1. Hi Jamie, you say Freestyle Smart Points, so is that for both plans? Freestyle is different then Smart Points. I’m looking for Smart Points.
        Thanks.

        1. The current WW Plan is called Freestyle. The points are called SmartPoints. Because SmartPoints were also around before the Freestyle program…I list the points as Freestyle SmartPoints so people will know they are the most current points for the program. Thanks!

  2. I thought I read you could use the Betty Crocker sugar free mix. If so how many points for how many.

    1. I stored mine in a closed container and they were still moist a few days later but that is as long as they lasted before they were all eaten. Let me know if you freeze them and how it works.

      1. 5 stars
These freeze beautifully! I individually wrapped each one in foil then out in a freezer bag. Took one out to thaw in the counter overnight – they were just as moist as when I first baked them, and this was two weeks later! LOVE THESE!

    1. Every time I make muffins with the canned Libby’s pumpkin I taste grit in the muffins
Almost like tiny particles of dirt or sand in an occasional bite. Has anyone else noticed this. I tried to use a blender to make The pumpkin from the can smoother but it is too thick to blend well even with the 1/4 c water
I never notice this grit when I make pumpkin pie.

  3. I’m so excited to try these. I’m going to make them tomorrow. How do you figure out the smart points for these? I’m new to smart points. Thank you

    1. I found the sugar free cake mix and the points are 0 per cupcake. You can even frost them with light cool whip and sugar free pudding for 1 point per cupcake. I am making these tomorrow!

  4. So I used Duncan Hines Devils Food Cake Mix and when i plugged it into the recipe builder (serving 24).. it came out to 0 points. I guessing it calculated wrong?? I know i used a different mix, but doesnt seem possible to be zero points 🙂 how did you put it in your recipe builder?

    1. Hi Cristina, Well…I can’t believe they would be zero points but that would be amazing!!! I know that the program is changing so maybe the recipe builder is already reflecting the points changes. I should find out in a few days what the new changes are! Then I will be able to update all my recipes with the new points values. When I entered it I just entered the ingredients…nothing special. Have a great day!!! Thanks for reading.

      1. I figured it out..my serving size for the mix was wrong. I had forgotten to multiply it by 10… oops! Still came out to 3 points though!! Very delicous- thanks for the recipe🙂

  6. If you use the Pillsbury Sugar free Devils Food Cake mix the entire box is 39 FSP. So 24 would be less than 2 FSP. I found the mix in 1 store in my city but Amazon does carry the Devils Food and yellow SF cake mix. It is more expensive than if you buy them in a store but at least you can find it . I look forward to making these. Thank you.

    So gooooood!!

On WW BLUE PLAN, they work out to 2 points a cupcake if you use sugar free pillsbury mix and make 18 cupcakes.
