Poached eggs have never been easier! In this recipe I’ll show you how to make air fryer poached eggs that are perfect every time. If you’ve ever struggled with the stovetop method, constantly watching water temperature and dealing with stringy whites, you’ll love this new way. Not only does it deliver restaurant quality in minutes, but it’s virtually simpler and mess free in your kitchen.

WHAT IS A POACHED EGG?

A poached egg is an egg cooked outside of its shell in simmering water, resulting in a fully cooked white and a runny yolk. Think of it as the perfect combination of a fried egg and a soft boiled egg – you get that beautiful intact yolk that creates a rich golden sauce when broken, surrounded by tender, cooked egg white. Traditionally made on the stovetop in water, using an air fryer is a modern, foolproof way to make poached eggs for busy mornings or to impress your guests with a fancy breakfast.

BENEFITS OF EATING EGGS

Eggs are nature’s perfect food and have been a part of human diets for thousands of years. They’re packed with high quality protein, containing all 9 essential amino acids our bodies need but can’t produce itself. Each egg has about 6g of protein, making them a great choice for breakfast or any meal when you need sustained energy throughout the day.

Beyond protein, eggs are super nutrient dense. They’re a great source of vitamins A, B12, D, E, K, folate, selenium and zinc. The yolks have heart healthy omega 3’s and choline which is essential for brain health and development. Despite the previous concerns about cholesterol, research now shows eggs can be part of a healthy diet for most people and may even help with weight loss due to their satiating properties.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER POACHED EGGS

Poaching eggs in an air fryer is easy and gives you perfect results every time. No swirling water or vinegar required, perfect for beginners and pros alike. Follow these simple steps to get set whites and runny yolks in your air fryer.

STEP ONE: PREHEATING YOUR AIR FRYER

Start by preheating your air fryer to 400°F (204°C). This step is crucial for achieving the perfect poached egg consistency. Give it a full 5 minutes to reach the right temperature.

STEP TWO: PREPARING THE RAMEKINS

While the air fryer is preheating, prepare your ramekins by giving them a light coating of olive oil spray. This prevents sticking and makes removal easier. Add exactly ¼ cup of water to each ramekin, then carefully crack one fresh egg into each.

STEP THREE: COOKING THE EGGS

Gently place the ramekins in your preheated air fryer basket. Reduce the temperature to 360°F (182°C) and cook for 5 minutes. The whites should be set while the yolks remain deliciously runny.

STEP FOUR: SERVING

Using a rubber spatula, carefully slide each egg out of its ramekin. Pour off any excess water, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately while hot!
