ARE KALE CHIPS LOW-CARB?

Indeed, tasty kale chips are typically regarded as low-carb. The leafy green vegetable kale is extremely rich in fiber and low in carbs. Little oil, salt, garlic powder, and spices are frequently used to flavor kale chips, which does not impact the amount of carbohydrates they contain.

For individuals on low-carb or keto diets, this makes kale chips a great choice because they may fulfill their appetites for a crispy snack without having a big effect on the amount of carbs consumed.

Nonetheless, it's wise to carefully verify packaged kale chips' precise components and nutritional data because some can have higher carb counts due to added sweeteners. If you make your own kale chips recipe then you know exactly what you are eating!

CAN YOU FREEZE KALE CHIPS?

Although kale chips can be frozen, it's crucial to remember that doing so may change their crispness and texture. A quick guide on freezing kale chips can be found here:

COOL DOWN

When making freshly baked kale chips, let them cool fully at room temperature.

ARRANGE IN A SINGLE LAYER

Lay the green chips out on parchment paper in a single layer after cooling. Ensure that they are not in contact with or covering one another.

FREEZE

After putting the baking sheet containing the kale chips in the freezer, leave it there for one to two hours or until they are completely frozen.

LABEL

Remember to write the details, like the date the item was frozen in the bag or container. This will enable you to monitor the duration of their freezer storage.

HOW TO STORE KALE CHIPS

To keep kale chips crispy and flavorful, they must be stored correctly. Here are the best ways to follow next time you store them:

TRANSFER TO A FREEZER BAG OR CONTAINER

Once the kale chips are completely cool, move them to an airtight container. For this reason, plastic or glass jars with tight-fitting lids are also suitable. This will avoid soggy kale chips.

LAYERING

To avoid kale chips from attaching to one another and to absorb extra moisture, stack them between parchment paper or paper towels.

AVOID MOISTURE

Parmesan kale chips are sensitive to moisture, so it's essential that you keep them out of any form of it. Before placing the chips, check that the container is fully dry. Then, keep the chips somewhere cool and dry, free from moisture.

SKIP THE REFRIGERATOR

Although it could seem appealing to keep kale chips in the fridge to extend their shelf life, doing so will actually cause them to get mushy. The ideal way to preserve them is in a dry, room-temperature atmosphere.

TIPS FOR THE BEST BAKED KALE CHIPS

Try these tips to make your own kale chips at home:

KALE LEAF

Fresh or organic kale is the way to go!

THOROUGHLY DRY LEAVES

Again, we do not want moisture. So you have to really dry them.

WOODY STEMS

Take out the tough stems from the leaves. We do not want chewy chips!

BITE-SIZE PIECES

Smaller pieces will make the chips even crispier.

BAKE AT LOW TEMPERATURE

300°F is the ideal cooking temperature for this great recipe dish.

HOW TO MAKE BAKED GARLIC KALE CHIPS

Now that you have gathered your ingredients, it is time to make this yummy recipe. Follow the instructions below for the best results!

STEP ONE: PREPARE KALE LEAVES

Before anything else, go ahead and preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. After that, you can now grab your bunch of kale to wash. You can use a salad spinner for easier washing and drying. Then tear the fresh kale into bite size or large pieces.

STEP TWO: OIL THE KALE

When that is all done, get a large bowl and place kale inside. Pour some avocado oil into the bowl and massage it into the leaves. You can also use tablespoons of olive oil if avocado oil is not an option. Be sure to toss and spread the oil thoroughly.

STEP THREE: COOK THE KALE CHIPS

Transfer the leaves onto a large baking sheet. You might need to do a second batch because to make crispy kale chips, they must be placed in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the leaves. Sprinkle the kale with the garlic and salt. When the oven is ready, put the seasoned kale in the oven to cook. Bake the kale for about 10 to 15 minutes, then flip it halfway through.

STEP FOUR: SERVE
