Have you tried your hand at making a DIY Homemade Candle? It really isn't that difficult and the results are pretty awesome. There is something about knowing…HEY…I made that!! 🙂 It is just plain cool to make things, right? So I am going to walk you through how to make your own DIY Homemade Candle! Give it a try…these make great gifts!
Ingredients Needed for a DIY Homemade Candle
– Glass Jar (from an old store-bought candle that I cleaned out)
– Blue Crayon
– Scented Sachet–I used wintergreen for this candle. It is such a great scent for this time of year!
How to Make a DIY Homemade Candle
First gather the supplies listed above.
Look on the package of wax to see how much you will need for your jar size. Wax comes in different forms…flakes, blocks, beads. The package should tell you how much you will need to use for different projects.
Glue the wick to the bottom of the glass jar. It will take about 10-15 minutes for it to set.
Now melt the wax in the microwave for 3 minutes and then let it sit in the microwave until it fully melts. If it isn't fully melted by 5 minutes just microwave in 30 second intervals until it is totally melted. ***If you want to make your candle colored…you need to add a crayon to the wax while you are melting it. I wanted a blue candle so I put a blue crayon in with my wax.
It is time to put everything together. Stir the wax to make sure it is completely melted and then add in the scented sachet. The sachet will separate into layers in the jar but it creates a very pretty sparkly look when the candle burns. If you don't want to use a sachet you can put in a few drops of essential oils to give your candle a wonderful scent.
Now pour the wax mixture into candle holder and pull wick taught.
