WHERE SHOULD I HANG AN EASTER BANNER?
If you're like me who enjoys beautifying their home for parties or celebrations, then this Easter banner is a perfect addition to your decorations. There are different places around the house to put your banner, here are a couple of ideas to help you out:
- Right above your fireplace – this is a perfect spot because it's kind of the center of the living room. Everyone will get to see your Easter fireplace banner.
- On your front door – you can either put it exactly on the front door or let it hang from above the door. This way people passing by or when guests arrive, they will immediately feel the festive spirit.
- If you're planning to put it somewhere outside, it's best to hang it on your fences.
- And of course, just like with “Happy Birthday” banners, you can hang your Easter egg banner somewhere around the dining area. Perhaps near the dining table.
A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE EASTER EGG
Before jumping to the history of the Easter egg, let's start with a brief history of what Easter is. Easter is a day of celebration for the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Christians celebrate that after His crucifixion, death, and burial – three days later, He rose from the grave. By this, He conquered death and redeemed us from sin. Â The purpose of Easter also means the full confirmation of all that Jesus taught and preached during His ministry.
Now, going back to the history of Easter eggs. Over the years, traditions done during Easter and symbols for Easter have progressed. However, some of it is still done by most people. Some traditions that most people do is dressing up as an Easter bunny and giving out baskets of candy, but of course, kids mostly enjoy the Easter egg hunts.
There is no certainty as to the reason colored eggs became associated with Easter. Numerous Ancient cultures saw eggs as a symbol of life.
In 1290, Edward I of England registered the purchase of 450 eggs to be coated with gold leaf. Then gave each member of the royal household the eggs. Upon acceptance of the custom, new traditions began to develop around it. The eggs were dyed red for joy and as a remembrance of the blood of Christ. The egg rolling competitions came to America from England, perhaps as a reminder of the rock being rolled away.
And the well-known Easter egg hunt? Well, to simply put it, children were hiding nests for the Easter Bunny to fill with eggs at the same time they were hunting pretzels, it was only right to begin and switch to hiding eggs instead.
