Microwave Spiced Nuts

I am not sure why I want to eat nuts during the holidays….and I don't think I am alone in this craving! As a child I can remember we always had a silver nutcracker and nuts in a bowl on the coffee table.  🙂  Nothing is better than spiced nuts…they remind me of Christmas!  This is a really quick and easy recipe too. Microwave Spiced Nuts are done in no time and make a great gift.

Microwave Spiced Nuts

Get ready for EASY (which is my specialty, LOL) and delicious!  These Microwave Spiced Nuts are BOTH! This is my mom's recipe that is in my family cookbook!

Ingredients Needed for Microwave Spiced Nuts

1 Tbsp butter or margarine

1/4 tsp cinnamon

pinch of garlic powder

1/2 tsp coarse salt

1 1/2 tsp red pepper sauce

pinch of ground cloves

2 cups whole, shelled, pecans, almonds &/or walnuts 

1 tsp sugar

Dried cranberries (optional)

How to Make Microwave Spiced Nuts

First put the butter or margarine in a 2 quart 12 x 7 microwave proof dish. 

Microwave the butter on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until it is melted.

Add the ground cloves, red pepper sauce, garlic powder and cinnamon to the butter and stir. 

Microwave this mixture for 1 minute.

Now stir in the nuts (dried cranberries), coating them well.

Put the dish of nuts back in the microwave and cook uncovered on high for 4-5 minutes, stirring halfway through, until heated through.

Lay the nuts out on parchment paper.

Sprinkle with salt and sugar and cool completely.

Store the spiced nuts in a covered container.
