New Weight Watchers Freestyle Program 2018
Let's talk about the big changes that have been released. I will go over what I know!!
New Zero Point Foods
There are lots of new ZERO point foods and that has a lot of people excited. I know there is already some push back and some people are worried about gaining by eating more zero point foods. I guess I will withhold my judgement until I have been on the new plan for a while and see how it goes.
Basically there are now over 200 zero point foods instead of just most fruits and veggies. The big additions to the list are skinless chicken breast, skinless turkey breast, fish, shellfish, eggs (with the yolk!!), tofu, beans, lentils, corn, peas and nonfat unsweetened yogurt.
Rollover Points
We are now allowed to rollover up to 4 SmartPoints each day to use some other time during the same week. These go into your bank of weekly SmartPoints.
This helps give you more flexibility in meal planning and special events.
Changes to Daily SmartPoints
You will probably see a change in your daily SmartPoints allowance. It may decrease because of the new zero point foods. It shouldn't be a big problem if you are eating healthy options from the zero point foods list to supplement meals and snacks.
SmartPoints are still here and most foods have the same points value. Nothing went up in points that I can see. We also still have our weekly SmartPoints but the amount will probably be less to account for the zero point foods.
Focus on Good Health and Habits
The new Weight Watchers Freestyle Program seems to continue a focus on good general health and building good habits that will last a lifetime. I love how the program has embraced total health and not just weight loss.
My Thoughts on the New Changes to Weight Watchers
Honestly, I am excited about these new changes. There will be less measuring and counting with the new zero point foods and that saves me time.
It will be easier for me to feel full on Weight Watchers by eating these healthy zero point options. This may help me avoid overeating too!
I will be working to get all of my recipes updated with the new Freestyle SmartPoints values as soon as I can!
Using ground chicken and ground turkey will be a great move to save points!! 🙂 I usually can't tell the difference in casseroles and soups. I am probably most excited about the EGGS being free! Let's just say I have been on a big egg kick lately!
What Do You Think of the Freestyle Program?
So…what are your thoughts? Are you excited or upset? Change is HARD isn't it!! Let me know!! Be sure to grab a free printable of all the new zero point foods!!

Hey Jamie! I tried to download your free printables but the link that was set to me in the email isn’t working. Just thought I would give you and heads up! 🙂
Hi Alyssa,
Thank you SO much for letting me know!! Crazy how something works fine one day and doesn’t the next. I think I got the bug fixed…here is the link to save you time! Have a great day!
I’m not a fan of the freestyle. I’m not a big fan of eggs. I also felt like I was taken away the numbers and taking away the freedom I had to be able to snack when I wanted to and what I wanted too. This feels more like a diet now and not a lifestyle change.
I wish we had the ability to use calculate the points the old way or the new way….but it only calculates the new way. My issue is that I love eggs and I think I will have to be really careful or I will gain weight from eating too many zero point eggs! Let me know how it goes for you on the scale! Merry Christmas.
I took a little hiatus from WW and just came back last Tuesday. I hadn’t paid any attention before signing back up about the new Freestyle Plan. Upon signing back up I am super excited about eggs being 0. Sunday is my normal weigh in, so I weighed in today. 5.4 lbs gone. I’m eating just like I did before Freestyle and so far so good. I love fruits, chicken, turkey, eggs so now my problem is…making sure I can meet my points for the day. Hoping everyone finds what works best f gor them. I’ve been on/off WW, for what seems like my whole life, that I’ve seen many changes. Remember back before points were even a thing? You got 2 proteins, 2 fruits, 2 milks, etc. Way more difficult to figure out but after awhile you learned. Personally I agree with you on WW helping us to be healthy all the way around. Best of luck to everyone. ❤
How do u find our how many points u can eat on the free style plan
Are you a member of WW? If you aren’t…I don’t know how you would figure out how many points. It seems like most people have 23 or 30 points daily.
It would be nice if WW had a plan for vegetarians!
I have heard of some vegetarians doing WW….I think they just track what they eat like everyone else, but only eats foods that are part of that way of eating. Now that most beans are zero points that may help!
How do they figure the weekly points?
I am not exactly sure…they factor in your height/weight and activity level I think.
I am not a member. Do you know if the new calculator figures out your daily points like before? And also what books I would need to follow the program?
The freestyle plan still gives you a daily points total and also a weekly extra points total. Everyone’s points vary a little based on weight, height and activity level–or at least that is my understanding.
I’ve signed up and paid. How do I get get the listing of foods and their points?
Are you doing WW online? If so then you should be able to find all of that info when you log in.
Don’t have fancy phone, have kindle. Can I use your program on computer?
Yes you can do use the Weight Watchers program on a computer, tablet, kindle, phone.
Thank you so much for this information. I can’t afford Weight Watchers, but have learned enough to begin eating correctly from your blog. I love that you are a Christian. I am also. My greatest sin is making food my god. (little g). Please keep me in your prayers. You will be in mine.
