I love easy meals and shrimp is actually a protein that can be cooked so quickly. Firing up the grill isn't always on my to-do list during the really hot parts of summer. Grabbing a bag of shrimp and cooking up a delicious meal in minutes on the stove top is the perfect way to go. This soy sauce and honey glazed shrimp recipe is delicious for a quick dinner.

Soy Sauce and Honey Glazed Shrimp
The nice thing about shrimp is that they pair easily with a lot of side dishes. If I am trying to stick to a really healthy side I will make this Cheesy Riced Cauliflower dish….if not I will just make some regular rice to go along with the shrimp.
I also love that shrimp keep well in the freezer. Stock up when shrimp are on sale to save a little money.
Ingredients:
2 lb. Large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
⅔ c. Honey
½ c. Soy sauce
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 large garlic cloves
2 tbsp. Coconut oil
How to Make Soy Sauce and Honey Glazed Shrimp
- I usually buy shrimp that are already deveined and without tails to save me some time in the kitchen. Take the tails off of the 2 pounds of shrimp, and place them into a large bowl
.
- Pour ⅔ cup of honey
into the bowl with the shrimp.
- Add in ½ cup soy sauce
to the bowl.
- Mix in 1 tablespoon of worcestershire sauce
.
- Grate the garlic cloves into the bowl and stir.
- Let the shrimp marinate for 30 minutes to 4 hours.
- Place 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
(or any other cooking oil of your choice) into a large skillet
over medium high heat. Add the shrimp into the skillet, and cook for a few minutes on each side until done. Try not to flip the shrimp back and forth between sides too often. This will allow it to get a nice sear on each side with the sugar from the glaze.
- Serve your shrimp over rice
with a side vegetable of your choosing.
Weight Watchers Freestyle SmartPoints
When I created this recipe in the WW Recipe Builder I wasn't thrilled with the results. The 2/3 cup of honey blows the points UP. Technically if you eat ALL of the sauce/glaze then this will be 15 Freestyle SmartPoints per serving. That value is based on 4 servings or about 1/2 pound of shrimp per serving.
We all know that when you have a sauce/glaze like this one that not a lot actually stays on the shrimp. So I don't believe that 15 points is anywhere near accurate. Personally I would probably count 5 Freestyle SmartPoints for one serving of this shrimp to take in the honey and the coconut oil. Those are the only 2 ingredients that even have a points value!
This is definitely a judgement call and you have to figure the number of points you think it is worth!

The Weight Watchers Freestyle SmartPoints for this recipe IF you eat EVERY bit of the glaze would be 15 points per serving. I don't think it is realistic because I never eat much of the glaze and not too much actually stays on the shrimp. I will be counting 5 Freestyle SmartPoints per serving...but it is up to you what you want to count!

Hi! This recipe sounds wonderful. Frozen shrimp was pictured. Did you thaw shrimp before marinating?
You can do either! Just cook a little longer if frozen. I have done it both ways depending on if I actually remember to thaw it out, LOL!
Can you make this with precooked frozen shrimp?
Sure, either thaw the shrimp first or add a little extra time.
