WHAT ARE CHICKEN FRIES?
Chicken fries are basically chicken meat cut up into strips that form the shape of french fries. I don't know who the genius behind this brilliant idea is, but what I do know is that back in 2005 the famous fast-food chain, Burger King, launched “Chicken Fries”.
However, these were discontinued in 2012. A lot of people liked these better than chicken nuggets because it was easier to dip in sauces. Years after discontinuing, fans of chicken fries started posting on social media – Twitter and Facebook pages. The Burger King Chicken Fries were so good that a die-hard fan even submitted a petition to President Barrack Obama at that time. It stated that bringing back chicken fries should be made a national priority.
This then caught the company's attention and they decided that they were going to bring back chicken fries to their menu. Burger King brought this back but sadly not permanently. This was available for a limited time only – 12 weeks or just until supplies last.
The good thing about this is that you can buy frozen chicken fries from the grocery. An example would be Tyson Any'tizers Chicken Fries which comes in 1.75 lb packs. Another brand is Earth's Best Organic Frozen Chicken Fries which is said to be good for kids. These brands can be found at either Walmart or Target.
If ever you don't like frozen chicken fries, you can always make them at home. There are a lot of great recipes for chicken fries. Cooking frozen chicken fries in the air fryer is just much more easy and quick!
HOW TO COOK CHICKEN FRIES IN AN AIR FRYER OVEN?
Don't have a countertop air fryer? That's fine! These frozen chicken fries in the air fryer are very crispy but cooking these in the air fryer oven will also work. Here's how:
- First off, preheat your oven to 375°F if your air fryer oven requires preheating.
- Then, place the frozen chicken fries in a single layer on the air fryer oven rack. Do not overcrowd.
- Cook for about 15 to 20 minutes or just until cooked through and golden brown. These will crisp up more if you let them sit for 1 to 2 minutes after cooking.
Note: there is no need to put or spray olive oil on these before cooking.
